Three Police Officers Jailed 2 Years Impersonating As ZRA

Three police officers have been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with hard labor, for attempted extortion when they impersonated to be employees of the Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA.

Felix Kafula, Simon Mulenga and Conrad Bwalya, operating from different police stations impersonated as ZRA customs officers and demanded for Ten Thousand Kwacha from a woman they impounded for non-payment of VAT for alcoholic beverages.

The incident happened in November 2011, when the three police officers intercepted Mary Nambita in Kafue, where they demanded for money for her cases of liquor to be released.

She then demanded for identity cards from the officers, which they failed to produce.

In passing judgement, high court judge Chalwe Mchenga said the trio is irresponsible and tarnishing the image of Zambia police

Big up to Nambita Mary. Face the police or whichever authority with your right. They will learn to respect you. One dull cop @ Chisali demanded that I give him K450 saying a family car becomes a family car after registration. So I shouldn’t have travelled with my wife & cousin to pick up OUR alphard at Dar!! Ubushilu kakapokola!!

I regret that i joined police full of such unimaginable characteristics from my fellow officers, learn to work hard,do something to supplement your salary officers!!!l no longer feel proud to be a cop,its a shame.Conrad Bwalya is a thief to his born,he even stole my combat uniform whilst in training at Lilayi college,am not surprised.
