‘Lafarge Still Not Following Govnt Directive On Conditions Of Service.’
Dear editor,
Recently the govnmet issued a directictve that the lowest paid for big companies be 3000 and on Labor Day President Sata ordered companies to improves workers conditions of service.
Lafarge cement has upto now not paid its unionized workers there salary increament, they have from January only offered 8% as an increament on their salaries which comes to 200 for 68% of its employees. Other companies which are not doing as good as lafarge interns of profits are paying far much better.
Mr Shamenda, why have you turned your blind eye and deaf ears to the long cry of lafarge employees? Why can’t u come and find out for yo self from the employees themselves?
Don’t go to the top office bearers, they are always protecting their Jobs. The new MD Mr Emmanuel Regaux has also been misled by a bunch of these selfish inhuman mangers we have..typical traitors.
What they are promised we don’t know.
A SALARY INCREMENT MUST BE SIGNED FOR BY BOTH PARTIES BEFORE IT IS PAIS TO WORKERS. IT MUST NOT BE FORCELY GIVEN WITHOUT UNION SIGNING FOR IT.
Here in Lusaka, lafarge is building a house for one of the top Govnt official, it could be the reason they have failed to conclude with union. They know the Govnt will ignore our outcry.
Why doesn’t our Govnt have laws to punish those not following labour laws, seriously how can we allow salary negotiations to go as far as June, 6 months and still not concluded? We have a lot of issues that are not right in our conditions of service, eg. Education allowance, production and sales bonuses etc.
Shamenda wake up or you kiss goodbye to your seat in 2016.
Mr Kambwili, acting labor Minister, please intervene in our issue. We know you are a man of action.
