ZMA Speaks On President Sata’s Health

The Zambia Medical Association(ZMA) says the tendency to Politicise and sensationalise the health of a sitting president cannot be allowed to continue.
ZAM president Aaron Mujajati yesterday stated that politician, both ruling and apposition, need to act responsibly on this issue.
He stated that the debate and speculation on the health of the president was a clear demonstration of the need for a robust and well defined protocol on how to manage the health of a sitting president on one hand and the need for responsible information management on the other hand.
What must be appreciated by all is that president’s are ordinary human beings, some younger and other’s order when they assume office ,but none of them possesses any type of superior Immune system. Zambia did not belong to politicians and journalists.
“there seems to be a hunger for political expedience and profit margins at all costs.Politicians, both ruling and opposition, need to act responsibly on this issue.there is need to to put the country first and think about how this is affecting the ordinary citizens. The tendency to Politicise and sensationalise the health of a sitting president cannot be allowed to continue,”he stated.
There are some issues that should be above partisan politics and the presidency is one of them.
Mujajati stated that silence and secrecy generates anxiety and speculations.”we need to find a humane and honest but ethical way of informing the nation about the health status of a sitting president in order to cure those who might want to use the situation to their selfish interest.President Micheal Sata’s private working holiday in Israel has attracted speculations and innuendoes about the head of state’s health status.Last Friday,vice-president Scott said the UPND were speculating about President Sata’s health in the belief that there would be presidential by-election.

To avoid speculation, we need to be open as a nation, the mind will always have question marks if thisngs are not explained clearly, that is the nature of man.

Very intelligent guy, advising both parties whom to me appear to be conducting themselves inappropriately.

the whole country held to ransom by one man called sata. it is not fair. why should we be subjected to backwardness because of one man yet there are so many who can enter his shoes and continue? this is selfishness of the highest by those in charge. let us correct the wrongs and move on. sata is not zambia and zambia is not sata.

@rev.masipa, I totally agree with u 100%, umuntu umo, to make 14 million zambians come to a stand still, as long as it takes for him to be on ”working holiday” Aweee….. isn’t there 1, out of the 14 million to move Zambia? I believe there is, let him step down for his own goodness, life is mo precious, n kabimba is not the chosen 1. Y do African leaders hide the health of a president? I wonder, even were I small kid can see that so so is not OK, a VP of 73 will say no everything is fine. These leaders shud have taken the president ku hospital much much earlier if they truly cared. But chi kabimba….heartless

Well said Mujatati! Indeed politicians should stop thinking this country belongs to them alone. Why are people so possessed with politics? Even if one is after the preidency there should be some decency and civility in the way you behave. And you people breeding hatred online please stop it! Journalists have been brought to book in Rwanda for propagating hate and idirectly contributing to the genocide. Ascending to power should not be at any cost ladies and gentlemen. Get a life and stop going around with tonnes of negative energy. Go and run marathons if you have too much energy and you are short of where to direct it to.

Time will soon tell. Time is the most efficient taller. It tells the truth nothing but the truth without holding a Bible.
