Stephen Keshi has announced he is stepping down as the Nigeria coach following the World Cup defeat to France, while defender Joseph Yobo has retired from international football.
The Super Eagles pushed France hard in their last-16 match in Brasilia only for Paul Pogba’s late header and a last-gasp own-goal by Yobo to seal a 2-0 win for Les Bleus.

Anyway the guy tried and after defeat no ways that he could remain on that hot seat esp with the criticism he faced after the first game from former players and those he didn’t select.Overall he has a job calling in south africa

@tutu, you right (apart from that foul mouth). Did you notice that teams with local coaches did better than those that had imported coaches? Even in qualification. @Wisdom Kechi’s prowess will still be useful in Africa, he is headed to Bafana-bafana.

It’s not true batumfweko. He hasn’t resigned. His contract has just come to an end and the Nigerian football association have not commented on renewing his contract. I advise you to confirm your stories before publishing them.

It’s only honorable whatever the true position is, coaches try their best to train and strategize but they are not the ones on the field. The Americans trained the Iraqi forces but we learn that the so called trained forces are not facing up to the rebels. The players or army can mutiny without the coach or generals ever knowing! Taking responsibility is realizing when to let others take up challenges that one feels they have failed to deliver on!
