VICTOR KUMWENDA reports:
FRENCH Ligue 2 side FC Sochaux and Democratic Republic of Congo side TP Mazembe have failed to agree terms on Zambia midfielder Nathan Sinkala.
And Chipolopolo striker Emmanuel Mayuka, who was on loan at Sochaux, has returned to English premiership side Southampton for pre-season.
Sinkala’s six-month loan expired on June 30.
According to a statement on the club’s website, Sinkala is among four players released due to Sochaux’s failure to agree terms with other clubs.
The other players are Jordan Ayew (Olympique Marseille), Razak Boukari (Wolvermpton Wanderers) and Emmanuel Mayuka (Southampton).
Sinkala, however, is not interested in returning to Lubumbashi.
Mazembe coach Patrice Carteron expects Sinkala to sign for a European club.
Sinkala is believed to have offers from Switzerland, Turkey, Israel and South Africa but it remains to be seen whether these clubs can agree terms with Mazembe.
Former Zambia coach Herve Renard was instrumental in Sinkala and defender Stopilla Sunzu’s move to Sochaux.
Renard quit at the end of the season after failing to save Sochaux from relegation.
