HH Hopes Scott Has Learnt A Lesson
United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema says he hopes Vice President Guy Scott will has learnt a lesson and will be careful with what he says following the outrage sparked by his utterances on the people of southern province.
Dr Scott apologized in Parliament last week for referring to the Tonga speaking people as a minority tribe campaigning and insinuating that there would be a Presidential by-election in the country.
Mr. Hichilema says the statement made by the vice President had angered many people in the country.
The UPND leader says the people of Zambia want to remain united the same way they have been for many years.
Mr Hichilema states that statements aimed at dividing the nation have the potential to bring about chaos in the country.

This is a closed chapter ka HH! What do you want? OK I also apologise because I also think its only a minority group looking for a Pr By election and this group is from Southern but not all Tongas. It comes from Namwala to be specific. Its only a Clan.

I do not know why in Zambia people fear facts. What Scott said is a fact and it will remain a fact. Why even appologise for stating facts.

In the name of so called “majority” you have divided and impoverished Zambia through poor management, corruption, cheating and many other bad deeds that have made you so unpopular among others. Before you brought your majority campaign nonsense, Zambians co-existed. As a result of your internal failure you want to ride on majority on account of urban language which we had accepted but we are now vehemently rejecting due to carelesseness.

Well the statics show Zambia is a collection of all minority groups. It was wrong to consider Tonga speaking people to collectively take a common stand. A Tonga speaking person like any other Zambian is free to support a party of his/her choice not just UPND. The apology was appropriate. Unless you tell me VJ, Hampunda, Munkombwe, etc are no longer Tonga.

Can someone please tell me which tribe can be considered majority in Zambia? The fact is that even the so called bemba speaking northern group even when bundled together only amounts to 43% and does not constitute a majority.
