Let Us Legalise Marijuana – Mulongoti

Mulongoti-apologises-to-MMDMIKE Mulongoti says Zambia should be realistic and consider legalising marijuana because of its benefits to the economy.
Mulongoti who is People’s Party president, said marijuana should not just be condemned out rightly.Mulongoti who is People’s Party president, said marijuana should not just be condemned out rightly.
“It’s time we embarked on a paradigm shift on marijuana. Anything that gives us money, let us use it to our advantage. Marijuana is something that we can make money out of, like the case is in other countries such as the United States. There is too much money the US is making from cocaine business, why can’t we do the same as a country?” he asked.
Mulongoti said the perception on marijuana around the world had changed.

Please let us legalise it. I am 45 years old and my Grand father works very hard in the field when he takes just a ball of marijuana. There is no hunger in my grandfather’s home. Please legalise it and I will advertise it. Birds eat it. Doctors smoke it. Presidents smoke it. Nurses love it. So legalise it.

A professor once appeared on ZNBC TV defending the weed (years back)- as Caristo Chitamya who was presenting the programme. Weed is an effective cure for BP, malaria, ears, eyes etc. Please legalise it now!

Let us not be so shallow minded. Weed is not just for smoking but is a very potent constituent for major drugs and the developed countries are using it in tonnes.

Smoking it is a very small percentage. Much of it will be for production. Just like maize, only a little is ziwaya.

when i was about 7 yrs i.e before independence chamba was consumed freely by my tribe, ngoni, hence the name “fwaka la chingoni”; but it’s consumed responsibly by elderly men and not these small boys. It wasn’t abused by the users, at all; andit was not easy for one to be known that he was a smoker. Ask any expert in this field, at chainama, they will tell you that chamba doesn’t make people mad. Some countries kuba zungu have legalised usage of chamba. Why should DEC continue fighting a losing battle; they even put chamba to implicate innocent citizens. It touches me when i attend court sessions and see a poor villager going behind bars just because of mushanga of chamba. Hey, fellow zambians let’s be real. Weed is consumed by : some politicians, some members of the clergy, many dec officers, etc etc. In short, i support mulongoti but he should explain further.

Is this the Mulongoti of Channel Africa that I know?
He should know the impacts of marijuana before enticing the nation to legalize it’s cultivation and use.
