About 30 people have sustained serious injuries after a bus they were travelling in overturned along Chipata-Malawi road in the Eastern Part of the country.
The accident happened when taxi drivers took over the road by blocking all the lanes during a purported burial procession of one of their colleagues.
Eyes witnesses told Muvi Tv that one of the taxis collided with a government hyger bus registration number GRZ 878 CH which eventually overturned leaving some passengers seriously injured.

yesterday’s bus accident was a very sad incident; it’s due incompetence of these useless pirate taxi drivers. Rtsa is supposed to hold workshops or road shows to sensetise road users especially bike riders, and these underage pirate taxi drivers. If not similar accidents like the one which happened yesterday will continue. Rtsa concentrates, just, on impounding vehicles. I also suspect that some rtsa officers are incompetent beyond measure: why do they drive on both lanes facing on coming traffic. In feb this year they caused a fatal accident near mtenguleni because of such reckless driving. It’s like nothing is working in this pf govt.

This story is exaggerated. I was in Chipata yesterday coming from Malawi when this accident happened. There were about 3o people on board, but only 7 were injured and taken to Chipata General Hospital Of these only one was seriously injured. She had her leg amputated. The rest have since been discharged.
In fact the taxi hit into the rear of the bus and the bus did not over turn, but just careered off the road.

i want to differ with jason nyirenda who’s said that all the victims have been discharged; my cousin who resides in navutika komboni is still in admission.
