CBU To Confer VJ, Irwin With Honourary Doctorates

vernon mwangaIT IS good to be recognised in your country while you are still alive, says Vernon Mwaanga.
Commenting on the Copperbelt University senate’s decision to confer him with a honourary doctorate degree for his contribution to peace building and conflict resolution in Africa on Thursday, Mwaanga said it was a great honour to be recognised.
Zambeef co-founder and current director for strategy and development Carl Irwin and former Namibian president Sam Nujoma are also scheduled to receive honourary doctorates this week.
“I have devoted more than 50 years of my life to peace building and conflict resolution in Zambia and Africa and the world. I have fought for freedom, peace and justice for humanity everywhere and done so in a non-confrontational manner. I have striven hard to build bridges and create human understanding,” Mwaanga said.
“I am immensely humbled that Copperbelt University has recognised my contribution by honouring me with an honourary doctorate degree.”
Mwaanga said he owed the achievement to his family, friends and Zambians.
“I have passionately given my best to my country and to Africa and it is a matter of great joy and satisfaction that I am being recognised in my lifetime. I hope this inspires the young men and women of Zambia to learn the skill of non-confrontation and only work tirelessly to build a better country and aspire to reach higher heights.”
Copperbelt University registrar Allan Illunga said in an interview that the conferring ceremony would be held during the university’s 24th Graduation Ceremony which takes place on Thursday and Friday where about 1,400 students would be graduating.
“Mr Mwaanga will be honoured based on his contribution towards peace building and also diplomacy, while for the former president of Namibia Mr Sam Nujoma, for his contribution to the liberation struggle of Namibia,” Illunga said.
“They are all honourary doctorates. Mr Nujoma is not yet in the country but we are expecting him on the 24th of July,” he said.
And Irwin confirmed CBU’s decision to honour him with a honourary doctorate in entrepreneurship and business.
“It will be an honour but again they have not conferred yet, so I will be glad to comment if it’s officially conferred,” said Irwin.

Thanx for the insult but is it my fault that VJ,Sata and Miles are glorified porn stars who have seen more vaginas than DR Kaseba who is a medical Doctor.

It appears to me that you are sick. You seriously better check yourself medically, spritually and mentally. How do you run away from the topic so fast? is there anything related to your statements in this article. Surely Zambians let us grow. SAD INDEED…………

For many of us, the honorary degree for VJ will be in rigging elections. No young person would like to distinguish themselves in a career in rigging elections for bad governments in Africa and call it diplomacy yack!!!

Learn to look at the positive side folks! He dealt in Mandrax which was not illegal then, hes had his shortcomings yes, but generally his contribution cannot be underestimated! His name cannot be obliterated just like, he will always be a part to the history of this Great Nation, Zambia. I would have agreed with you if you talked about being embalmed!
