The Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) has strongly condemned the violent conduct of a Roma Girls Secondary School Teacher Daswell Sichilongo who was captured on camera beating the school’s acting head teacher Sister Emma Chakupaleza.
This followed the decision by Sister Chakupaleza to lock up Sichilongo’s house for failure to pay rentals subsidized at K300 per month.
ZNUT Assistant General Secretary Catherine Chilunda has told QFM News in interview that the union is disappointed and does not condone such behavior.
Ms. Chilunda says the action exhibited by the Teacher is intolerable and criminal.
She points out that regardless of who was wrong, violence at work should not be condoned hence the Law should take its course.
And gender activist Sara Longwe has expressed disappointment at the behavior of the teacher.
Ms Longwe stresses that the nation should believe that gender based violence affects more women than men.
She says the incident at Roma Girls Secondary School deserves serious attention, adding that the teacher deserves to be behind bars.

Mission schools do not have respect for teachers yet these teachers receive salaries from Govt.Let mission schools employ their own teachers like private schools

Thumbs up to ZNUT, a criminal is a criminal no matter what situ led to commit the crime. Some pipo have murdered coz they were hungry or provoked but in a civilised world thats not how to go about solving problems. Imagine even after beating the nun the house is still locked the family is stil squating and him languishing in jail bupubabupuba what has he solved and now he is likely to lose employment. Police always warn us do not take the into your hands. Pipo think its a joke, mwalamwenako those would be offenders.some pipo are used to beating cattle.

At nani NUN wat ever the name might be should have acted with a sober mind also unlike locking someone’s house.Surely there were better solutions like deducting from his salary or to sit down and discuss the way forward, the only problem is that there is a lot of pretense now-days were people hide in the name of GOD like this nun what ever, naine kuti nakunaya waumfwa
