Lusaka Police Officer Kills Wife,Shoots Himself

A 40 year-old Police officer of Lusaka identified as Samuel Bwalya has committed suicide by shooting himself after shooting dead his 29 year-old wife Dee Chileshe.

 

Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga Chanda has disclosed to Qfm news in a statement that the incident happened today around 12:00hrs at Kamanga Police Post in Lusaka.

Ms. Chanda says the incident happened when the Police officer, who was on duty, asked his wife to go to the Police post but that as she was approaching the post, he followed her while armed with an AK 47 riffle and on the way he shot her and later turned the firearm on himself.

She says the motive behind the shooting is yet to be established, but that the bodies of the deceased are lying in the UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Meanwhile two people have died on the spot while five others have sustained injuries after a Toyota Regius Registration number AIB 150 they were travelling in overturned due excessive speed.

The accident happed along the Luwingu- Kasama road yesterday, Wednesday, 23rd July around 18:00 hours.

Ms Chanda the deceased have been identified as Alex Mabila and Wibroad Mulenga aged 45 and 35 years respectively.

Ms. Chanda says the driver of the vehicle is among the injured who are admitted to Kasama General Hospital.

She says the bodies of the deceased are lying in the same hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
