Pupils at Kansenshi Secondary School in Ndola have complained that some teachers are absconding lessons in preference for watching Telemundo in the staffroom. Pupils at the school claim that some teachers do not want to attend class because they always want to watch soap operas on the channel.
“We reported to the headteacher over what some female teachers are doing. A lot of them are found in the staffroom watching the Telemundo channel instead of teaching. We have complained to the head teacher over this. Time for lessons is time for lessons, not watching Telemundo,” complained the pupils.
They say it is sad that most of them have started writing their end of term tests without completing the syllabus because some teachers prefer to watch the channel in the staffroom. The pupils say that the school should not blame them for failing their tests because teachers who were fond of watching Telemundo are putting them in an awkward position.
And Copperbelt provincial education officer Paul Ngoma says his office has not received any reports on the matter. Ngoma says he will send standard inspector officers to the school and issue a comprehensive report on the matter after investigations.
And MultiChoice Zambia acting public relations manager Mumbi Mutale has distanced the organisation from the reports at Kansenshi Secondary School. MultiChoice has distributed hundreds of free decoders to school resource centres across the country (decoders which have education bouquet).

The Chakupaleza-Sichilongo effect.
The reporter did not check facts with the head teacher for fear of someone being beaten. Furthermore, if that be true, then the heads of departments must be equally useless badgers. Worst of all the head teacher who can’t unsure teaching takes place. But! Does that goon of a PEO have to wait for the pupils’ cry for him to send the ‘sub’ standards officer. Perm Sec. ++

It true most of these teachers they would rather be watching Football and to females Telemundo than teaching. At my school we even experienced an incident were a female and a male teacher almost fought because of the choice of the channel to watch it was the time of football, male teachers wanted to watch repeat football match and female teachers wanted to watch a repeat of a certain movie.
Multichoice is saying they have only distributed free educational bouquets to schools;how come that telemundo which is a romantic channel finds itself in the Education category?and the headteachers are in the fore front watching these programs as such no one to advice the friend.
What is the solution to this because children now are the ones who are the Victims to telemundo,Let multichoice remove all the Entertainment channels and only leave channels like discovery, animal planet and other channels that are truelly educational
