10424416_788230964530293_7973648659377805225_n-300x300Mampi, who has been performing in some of the most unexpected of places such as Gabon, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea, is happy with the way her performance went in the French-speaking country of Niger. The self-styled diva was performing at the Niger Connexion in that country’s capital city Niamey. And looking at the pictures on her facebook fan page where she has over 60,000 followers, she was certainly an attraction in this west African country that borders Nigeria and Benin to the south, Burkina Faso and Mali to the west, Algeria and Libya to the north and Chad to the east.
“Niger was amazing, the concert was sold out. All I can do is thank God for this talent, and thank you my fans, friends and family for the love and support. Without you, I wouldn’t have come this far,” she posted on facebook.
Indeed, she has come far.
The singer, born Mampi Mirriam Mukape, debuted with Maloza in 2005 under the Sounds Investments and Sling Beats Entertainment Record labels, and immediately divided public opinion with some of her dressing that left little to imagination.
Today, no one talks about that; instead, they all want to see what she is wearing, whether on stage or off. In her early years, she argued that her dressing was part of her stage act.
But few agreed.
Today, they all agree that she is one of the leading female musicians, even among those that think lowly of the current music being released by the local musicians.
Having performed in some of the unthought-of places, even by her widest imaginations, the questions fans will be asking is, where is her next stop?
She is certainly helping her fans to know the world better.
Ask her fans if they knew the location of Papua New Guinea before she went there?
