Suspected Mental Patient Bites Off Mungwi Man’s Ear
A man of Mungwi district had his ear bitten off and swallowed by a suspected mental patient on Tuesday.Confirming the incident, Northern Province police commissioner Charity Katanga said Charles Mwenya, 45 had his right ear bitten off at Mwanabwalya village in chief Chitimukulu’s area after being called in to help have the alleged mental patient tied up for transportation to a traditional healer.
“Mwenya was assaulted by a mental patient, Joe Kangoma, of the same village. The victim had his right ear completely cut off, chewed and swallowed by the assailant (Kangoma). This occurred on August 5 and was reported to the police the following day,” Katanga said.
She said the police have not visited the crime scene due to distance and that the incident happened around 17:00 hours.
Katanga added that Mwenya was not related to Kangoma but was merely called in to assist have the suspected mental patient tied up when he met his fate.
She said a police medical report has been issued to Mwenya who has since been referred to Kasama General Hospital.

its not a laughing matter, but iliko fun. I can imagine how a mental patient grabbed victim’s head and chopped off the ear, chewed it without salt uuuummmm kwali drama. How the victim shouted for help. “iyeeee nafwa maayoo, cansuma” “iyeee, camputula ukutwi (touching himself to prove if the ear was still there) kikikikiki drama kwa chitimukulu sosala.
