A Lecturer at the University of Zambia-UNZA- , Dr Mathias Mpande, has been dragged to court by Finance Minister, Alexander Chikwanda, for defamation of character.
According to a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka high court Mr. Chikwanda is claiming damages for libel from Dr Mpande that were published in the post newspaper of August 5th 2014 under the headline Mpande questions Chikwanda’s mining decisions.
Mr. Chikwanda says the words contained in the article purport that he is unpatriotic and a corrupt person obtaining gratification from mining companies in exchange of granting favourable tax incentives to them.

I really “hope” ABC has no skeletons in the closet. Otherwise he will end up withdrawing the csae when it will be too late. When late FTJ sent Mmembe, Nawakwi to court for calling a thief he thought he was gonna fix them. But the end reult was someting else!!!

Educated and knowledgeable Mpande has demonstrated his worst ignorance on this mining VAT subject. I pity him.

But i failed to understand why the minister also failed to take the priests who are on him in almost very news article. One of them is Father Luonde, why not take them on as well? The best way to make Zambians understand the stance bwana Minister on mining VAT is to…….., luck of better terms.
