Luanshya Protests Against Kambwili

Hundreds of Luanshya residents and PF cadres yesterday staged a protest denouncing Chishimba Kambwili for allegedly pushing the suspension of their area member of parliament Steve Chungu.

Kambwili declined to comment on the matter when contacted yesterday.

Chungu, the PF Luanshya member of parliament and district chairman, has been suspended from the party for refusing to participate in a march to celebrate the removal of Wynter Kabimba from government and party positions.

The residents and PF supporters that marched around town centre said it was ridiculous for the ruling party to suspend Chungu who had delivered unprecedented development for Luanshya Constituency and worked hard to make the party strong and popular in the area.
PF Luanshya Constituency information and publicity secretary Kenny Kalunga said the people decided to march to the Office of the District Commissioner, Rayford Mbaulu, because they were fed up with the interference from Kambwili and his team from Roan Constituency that had started a malicious campaign against Chungu.

“These lies we are seeing in the PF are destroying us. Chungu is a noble man that had refused to associate himself with malicious people in the PF. Kambwili has been telling the central committee lies about us and the leadership of the PF is being misled just because Chungu and Luanshya Constituency did not participate in their so-called jubilations over the firing of Kabimba. This is not fair, and if Chungu is expelled from the PF, I am afraid he will go with the entire constituency,” Kalunga said.

He said the residents of Luanshya Constituency and party officials led by 48 leaders from various wards decided to protest because they were hurt and felt insulted with the manner Chungu was being treated by the so-called new leadership of the PF.

“There is no party that thrives on lies and we are saying Kambwili and his people must leave us alone and our MP Chungu. He (Kambwili) is a member of parliament for Roan and we are saying let him concentrate on his constituency and leave our Lunshya Constituency alone,” Kalunga said.

When contacted Kambwili said he had no comment to make over the issue.
“ I have nothing to say about that. No comment,” said Kambwili.
