KABWE Bandits Rob Filling Station

THREE masked bandits yesterday staged a daylight robbery at Petrotech Filling Station in Kabwe and stole K50,000 cash.
Central Province commissioner of police Standwell Lungu said in an interview yesterday that the robbers were armed with an AK47 rifle and an axe.
They attacked the filling station between 08:00 hours and 09:00 hours and got the cash from the previous night’s sales of fuel.
The police believe that the three robbers are part of a gang of five bandits that stole K258,384 from BM Distributors Limited in Kabwe on July 15, 2014.
“The robbers could be part of the gang that attacked BM Distributors because the suspects were masked and armed with a firearm and axe. Even in this attack at Petrotech, the suspects were masked and armed with a firearm and an axe,” Mr Lungu said.
He said the robbers pretended that they wanted to use the toilet at the filling station and made a swift turn into the office where some workers were counting the money.
Workers at the filling station are working normally but they declined to comment on the robbery.
And MONICA KAYOMBO reports that a woman of Masaiti on the Copperbelt has been murdered by her family members on suspicion that she was a witch.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said yesterday that Meta Mbambo, aged between 50 and 60 years, was murdered on Sunday around 18:30 hours.
“The incident occurred on Sunday at 18:30 hours near Lwansobe market in Masaiti district in Chief Mushili’s area,” Ms Kasosa said.
She said police officers visited the crime scene and the body is in the Ndola Central Hospital mortuary.
And a 17-year-old Grade eight pupil of Nkwazi Basic School in Ndola has committed suicide.
Ms Kasosa said Geoffrey Chilufya took his own life and the matter was reported to the police by Chilufya’s cousin, Gift Nyakaseya of the same abode.
Police have not yet established the motive for the suicide but sources said the incident followed an argument he had with his cousins.
