Mr Sichilongo

The Lusaka Magistrate Court has acquitted Roma Girls Secondary School teacher Daswell Sichilongo who was charged with assaulting the school’s acting Head teacher Sister Emma Chakupalesa.

Senior Principle Magistrate Aridah Chulu acquitted Mr Sichilongo this morning after Sister Chakupalesa withdrew the case following their reconciliation by the church.

Sister Chakupalesa told the Court that she had forgiven Mr Sichilongo.

Mr Sichilongo on 21st July vented her anger on the Catholic Nun by unleashing fists on her after she locked up his house for alleged failure to pay rentals for the institutional house he was occupying.

The action by Mr Sichilongo attracted widespread condemnation especially from the women’s movement at a time when gender based violence is on the increase in the country.

The country has seen a sadden increase in cases of gender based violence with both men and women by perpetrators.

A man who beats a woman is a fool. Frm the beginning God has placed a woman under a leadership of a man and so a man should demonstrate tru leadership thru dialogue evn if a woman bhaves lke a child. Yaba koma ba sister aba anabelenga Baibolo paja pamene ikamba ati when you are slapped on one cheek turn the other. I wish Israel the country could learn from Sister Emma. However there was a crime committed here the state should go ahead with the prosecution even if the sister has forgiven the assailant. The evidence is on video and therefore the complainant is not needed to prosecute

Very rare Christlike love demonstrated to poor Sichilongo by Sr Emma.. I remember the same act shown by the late Pope John Paul the second when he forgave his assailants. The world order should learn and emulate such acts of unconditional love….

In every situation we are, lets to know, identify and then know what repacations our actions might bring in the society. Lets try to learn that a human being should be “quick” to listen and “slow” to anger at all times. Love u all.

No, no, no, the sister was influenced by the Catholic clergy to withdraw. She did not do so herself. You think a woman can withdraw a case after being clobbered like that?

Mr. Sichilongo learn to term yourself. The Sister might have been wrong but you went too far to behave in that manner. There she is she has forgiven you and you would have suffered the consequences of Gender Based Violence. To Sister Chakupalesa I wish to say thank you for practising what the Lord teaches us about forgiveness.

No man in his rightful mind should beat up a woman like that. It is not even a good example to the youth like some people are saying here. It is wrong and Sichilongo must be ashamed of himself.

At least we have heard from the Catholic nun that she has forgiven Sichilongo unconditionally. But have we heard Sichilongo say he is extremely sorry for what he did? The character should be taken to another school where teachers are not offered accommodation at a reduced rate. Besides, Sichilongo should be fighting fellow men and not defenceless women like the nun. I have always believed men who beat up women are cowards. I wish I could land some punches on Sichilongo to help control his unreasonable and child-like temper.

Both parties were wrong, that proves to us that we all human and we make mistakes, repentance should be the order of the day, cause only one man had no Sin under the sun and that was Jesus Christ and he came to die for our sins, confess our sins and love one another, the devil is upset cause this issue was reconciled, thank God he forgave both parties.
