15-Year Old School Girl Dumps Baby In Toilet After Giving Birth

POLICE in Chinsali district of Muchinga Province have retrieved a day- old baby from a pit latrine after its 15-year-old mother abandoned it to for dead.
Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner, Bonny Kapeso, has confirmed the incident in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Chinsali.
Mr Kapeso said police in the district retrieved the infant from a pit latrine at Chinsali Girls’ Secondary School on Sunday morning.
He added that the police found the infant in deep waters in the toilet.
The Deputy Police Commissioner said that the infant was dumped in a pit latrine by its mother after delivery, saying the baby was a full grown human being.
Mr Kapeso said that the mother, who is a Grade Eight pupil, has since been charged with infanticide and will appear in court soon today Wednesday October 8, 2014.

This news is not complete. I think the public needed to know things like what happen after the baby was found, was it dead or alive? We understand the girl will appear before court but was she ok having given probably the first birth alone. Come ba Tumfweko.

Imwe ba Swine flue. Can’t you read that that the girl has been charged with infanticide? Research the meaning of infanticide. It is not attempted infanticide meaning the baby was dead.

I doubt if this gal is really 15 yrs. How did she manage to hide the pregnancy for 9 months and give birth alone? If so then this is not her first time, she has been doing it.

This girl is very cold and criminally minded. How can any right thinking person throw her own fully grown baby away? Even the child is a product of abuse, the best is to give birth and take the child to an orphanage. I am truly sorry for the loss of life of this baby and the mother will never spend quite sometime in jail. What a pity!
