Mweene: Zambia Will Adapt To Gruelling Dates

mweeneGoalkeeper Kennedy Mweene believes Zambia will adapt to the gruelling long-haul travel of playing back-to-back qualifiers in four days.

Zambia will play their last of two long-haul away Group F qualifying games this Saturday when they visit Niger in Niamey.

Chipolopolo have yet to win on their faraway travels after losing 2-1 to Cape Verde on September 10 just four days after drawing 0-0 at home win Mozambique.

“It is not easy to play Saturday and Wednesday especially when you have to go to West Africa and come back. Travel arrangements are tiring but we have to play these games,” Mweene said.

“Even at our clubs we play Wednesday and weekends. It will be difficult but at the end of the day we need to get result.”

CAF has for the first time concertinaed the Africa Cup qualifiers by adding Wednesday fixtures during the international monthly match dates running from September to November.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s next away game will be less onerous and will see them take a two hour hop to Maputo in their penultimate Group F match away to Mozambique on November 15.
