Namugala Mocks ‘Well-Fed’ Ministers

MAFINGA MMD member of parliament Catherine Namugala on Thursday caused laughter in the House when she referred to ministers as looking more ‘well-fed’ than the majority of ordinary Zambians.

And Copperbelt Province minister, Mwenya Musenge, commended President Michael Sata’s speech, stressing that it had accorded Zambians an opportunity to appreciate the strides the PF had achieved so far .

In a follow-up question on why the government had allowed Kalabo District Hospital to run out of food supplies for in-patients due to non-availability of funds, Namugala said it was unacceptable that such a situation should be allowed.

“Mr Speaker, Sir, ministers look ‘well-fed’ at the expense of Zambians. So how can they allow Kalabo to run out of food supplies for in-patients?” Namugala wondered, to which community development, mother and child minister Emerine Kabanshi noted that funds had already been dispatched to Kalabo.

“Mr Speaker, let me challenge management of these district hospitals to be innovative too, so that they ensure patients are fed,” Kabanshi said.

Earlier, Kalabo UPND member of parliament Chinga Miyutu asked whether the government was aware that Kalabo District Hopsital had run out of food supplies for patients, to which Kabanshi answered in the affirmative.

“Mr Speaker, as we speak, a grant has already been dispatched for Kalabo District Hospital so that food supplies for in-patients can be bought,” said Kabanshi.

And Musenge said the PF under President Sata had achieved a lot in terms of development.

“It is not debatable and there is no need for emphasis; works speak for themselves. If you travel, north, east, south and west, the country is beaming with massive infrastructure development,” Musenge said.

“Our roads, schools, clinics, hospitals, mention it, Mr Speaker, are all being attended to, and new roads and bridges are being built.”

He said it was a fact that the poverty levels in Zambia had reached alarming levels under the previous administration but such was not the scenario under the PF.

Musenge try to be real.Your family depend on you for survival but there are those who do not have ministers in their families,How do you expect them to survive?
Go down into shanty compounds incognito and see for yourself how people are suffering.Poverty has increased further in the PF.
Even the blind can feel it.
