Chris’ Exit Tragic – Kalu

KALUSHA Bwalya says the expulsion of Chipolopolo skipper Chris Katongo from camp is a great tragedy that has come at a wrong time.

And Chipolopolo team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi has dismissed the allegations that Katongo’s expulsion from camp was because he spent a night away with a lady.

Bwalya, the Football Association of Zambia president, said he was saddened that Katongo who has a good discipline record was ejected from camp at a crucial time of qualifiers for the 2015 Morocco Africa Cup.

He, however, said discipline was cardinal and the decision taken by the technical staff should not derail the team.

“It’s a pity; I find it a great tragedy that a thing like this happened. Let’s just think about the boys and tomorrow’s (today’s) game; we have enough things to think about now, about the games, the points. We should not have anything else to destract us. When things like this happen, things to do with discipline, I find it a tragedy because Chris has a very good record, impeccable record with the national team. I think discipline is cardinal and whatever decision has been taken, let’s work hard for the team and rally behind the boys and get the points that we deserve,” said Bwalya.

On Monday, Katongo was expelled from camp for allegedly sneaking into a lady’s room at Mukuba Hotel in Ndola.

He allegedly asked his girlfriend, who travelled from Lusaka, to book at the same hotel, and later sneaked into her room for the night. According to the girl, Katongo sneaked into her room at 23:00 hours and spent the night with her.

And Kamwambi said Katongo could not have done that because he was a family man and career soldier.

“Nothing like that ever happened and Christopher is a family man with a wife and children. He is a career officer in the army, where discipline is very cardinal. He is a professional playing in South Africa,” Kamwambi said.

He reiterated that Katongo was ejected out of the training camp for tactical reasons.
“I have known that young man for a while, it is not fair to have such a thing on him. He (Katongo) has children; he is a career officer. He is a professional footballer and when we let him go, it was for tactical reasons,” Kamwambi said and claimed that the story had damaged Katongo’s reputation.

“The reason we let him go is not the reason you are carrying in the newspaper because we are not aware of that. If you have information which we don’t have, we will be happy to have it. I am looking at a career soldier and a family man, whose reputation has been damaged arising from the story. There is no substance to that, unfortunately.”

Kamwambi is a fool, what has someone being a family man got to do with cheating? Can he define adultery?

What tragedy? Let the coaches chose players not the Faz president. If he was sowing seeds of poor results into other players, then that was a good enough reason. After all they played better without than with him.

This story is confusing. Is like Katongo sneaked into his girlfriend’s room after he has been dropped. If this is the case, then Mr. Kamwambi must come out and tell the nation what really transpired. otherwise, we will keep on speculating or hold on to what on the social media as the gospel truth.
