Chris Must Apologise – EliJah Tana
ELIJAH Tana says revelations that Chipolopolo skipper Christopher Katongo was expelled from camp for sneaking into a woman’s room at Mukuba Hotel in Ndola are shocking.
In an interview, Tana, who captained Chipolopolo from 2000 to 2008, said he was surprised that Katongo breached camp rules, which led to his expulsion from camp.
He said such things were unheard of during his playing days and advised Katongo to apologise to the nation.
Tana said what happened should not be condoned anywhere in football circles.
“If you identify a bad root, you must uproot it. I am surprised to hear what happened in camp. Takwaba ukuchita tolerate indiscipline iyi. Tafyalechitika (indiscipline must not be tolerated. This never used to happen). It’s actually a big blow to the nation,” Tana said.
“If I am a captain, it means I am a leader, so I can’t do something which is bad to the team and the nation. Icho chena tachaweme nga efyo achitile (That is very bad if indeed that is what he did). He must come out and say sorry to the nation and the technical bench. As a captain, you really can’t do that. This has now brought problems to his family and the nation. He was wrong as a captain,” said Tana.
On Monday, Katongo was expelled from camp for allegedly sneaking into a woman’s room at Mukuba Hotel.
The named girlfriend confirmed that Katongo spent a night in her room.
Chipolopolo team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi, however, came to Katongo’s defence, saying the player’s dismissal from camp had nothing to do with him spending a night in a woman’s room.

It appears Katongo has made enough money and grown wings, so let him retire and leave room to the upcoming young stars. Kamwambi also must stop defending culprits blindly.

katongo was chased from camp at 18:00hrs and he sneaked into ladies room at 23:00hrs,so i wonder how he was chased in advance for sneaking into ladies room.every coach whenever they are making a team,he has to call the captain so that he help him,and the captain has the right to disagree with the tactic.but janza decided to expel katongo.time will come for him when the nation will rise against janza.

@Trixy we all love sex but one afwile apima the situation when to engage into it, thats why they say CAMPING, meaning away from your regular life to concentrate on the upcoming event. Katongo knows better he would have been chased even in Europe, China etc

TUMFWEKO with all honours and respect, bushe are you aware that Zambia played Niger and won 3-0 yesterday? My point is, we arent asking for detailed game analysis but just to briefly knowledge the win. But you prefer to publish Tana’s view on Katongo.

@Levy its really surprising why one would rather rush to post an article on a Nigerian woman who gave birth to a ‘bouncy baby boy’ than mentioning a sentence on Chipolopolo win last night.

Apology is the right thing to do zebigi,just humble yourself as a true and real sportman apology is the key,Lance armstrong apologised for doping,marian johnson too and the list goes on just do it!

As a leader you cannot afford to be found in this kind of behaviour. It reminds me of Clifford Mulenga. Thought Chris would set a good example, i know he is mature enough. Yes apologise and make things right.
