I’m A Very Loyal Citizen – Kabimba

WYNTER Kabimba says he has served Zambia as a loyal citizen.

kabimbaSpeaking yesterday in his capacity as a farmer, at the handover of 29 tractors and farming equipment by NWK-Agri Services to farmers in Mumbwa district, Kabimba said he had been a loyal citizen who participated in the affairs of the country.

“I am here in a totally different capacity. I am here to join you as a farmer. I have been in the farming business for the last 20 years coming from an emerging farmer to a commercial farmer. Above all, I have been a very loyal and committed subject of senior chief Shakumbila. I have participated in the affairs of our chiefdom as much as I have participated in the affairs of my country,” he said.

“I pride myself as a very loyal citizen of this country and a very loyal subject of this chiefdom. I  am very proud to join you today on this very important occasion and I thank you for having invited me in a totally, totally different capacity as a farmer.”

Kabimba said there was no substitute to success other than engaging in hard work and agriculture.

He said as a farmer, he was involved in cattle and game ranching.

Kabimba said he was breeding game such as zebras, giraffes and waterbucks.
Earlier, senior chief Shakumbila of the Sala people of Mumbwa district warned farmers not to use the tractors to ferry charcoal.

The traditional leader said tractors, if put to proper use, would improve the living standards of his subjects.

“These tractors and equipment are meant to transport cotton and other farm produce, not transporting fish or charcoal. Don’t use the loan you will get to drink kachasu (a local brew) or to buy suits,” said chief Shakumbila.

And NWK chief executive officer, Pierre Lombard, said the company would also partner with as many financial institutions as possible to enable small-scale farmers to access equipment.
“We are also in discussions with Stanbic and Barclays,” he said in an interview yesterday.
Asked what interest rates farmers would be paying in view of the relatively high rates banks are charging, Lombard said it would be at a market-related rate but expressed confidence that farmers would pay back their loans given the commercial viability the newly-acquired assets would have on boosting crop production.

“It will be at a market-related rate, which is relatively high. But I believe the potential to increase yields will far outstretch the negative impacts of high interest rates,” he added.
Lombard further said the mechanisation equipment would ensure farmers are no longer restricted to small production outputs in relation to the hectarage cultivated.

NWK Agri-Services partnered with ZANACO and FNB, among other corporate entities, to provide equipment to small-scale farmers.

I think he is trying to beat HH’s record as a successful farmer. But where did he get such money to invest in game ranching?

Is a better way to launch a come back.
No reasons for dismissal have been advanced so it is very easy to make a come back. Congratulations to the farmers of Mumbwa for benefiting from Kabimbagate. Those are the spoils of Transafagara oils.
