Kapiri Mposhi PF district youth vice chairman Costain Chilikwazi has asked Secretary General Edgar Lungu to act and stop the violence in the ruling party.
Chilikwazi said the violence that had characterised the Patriotic Front at public gatherings had the potential to divide the party.
“The violence that we have been seeing being perpetuated by certain people, some of them known to the party membership, right in the presence of the top leadership is of serious concern,” Chilikwazi said.
“This is a wakeup call, it is a time bomb and Honourable Edgar Lungu who is the chief executive officer of the party, should act and bring this violence to a halt. We must realise that this kind of violence that we have seen in the PF in the recent past has the potential to split the ruling party as we head towards the 2016 general elections,” he said.
And Chilikwazi has called on politicians to refrain from the tendency of using youths as tools of violence.
“We have seen politicians using youths to settle their personal vendettas. And this tendency by politicians to use young people champion their own personal political aspirations is wrong and should not be entertained in modern politics,” said Chilikwazi. “Political leaders should not use young people as tools of violence. The trend has to come to an end. In the same vein, I call upon all youths in the PF not be used as tools of political violence,” said Chilikwazi.
Chilikwazi further advised youths in the country to engage in productive activities and ensure that they contribute positively to national development.
