Kanene’s DAD Begs For Son’s Release
Incarcerated singer General Kanene’s father Leonard Dimba says hunger will wipe out his family if his son remains imprisoned.
Kanene, whose real names are Clifford Dimba, was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in April this year after the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court found him guilty of defiling a minor.
Dimba, however, is begging the prison authorities and President Michael Sata to consider releasing his son as a gesture of forgiveness and compassion during the golden jubilee celebrations.
“Chingatutandizile ngati munyamata uja mungamuchose. Ise tupempa kuti bangamuikeko pa list yabaja bantu bamene bazachosa ndaba ife tavutika (It would really help us if they released that young man. We are asking if he can be placed on the list of those to be pardoned by the Head of State because we have suffered),” he said.
Dimba disclosed that the unbearable poverty which has befallen the family after the imprisonment of his son, have forced Kanene’s first wife to go back to her mother in Chawama.
He described his son as a breadwinner, whose efforts could not be replaced.
Dimba also said the hardships which the family had been going through forced the family to surrender Kanene’s six children to close family members as he and his wife could not afford to feed them.
“Bakazi bake ba mainini bali namimba ikulu. Tinkala nabo pamene pano. Bakazi bamai gulu banabwelela kwao chifukwa palibe zokudya (His second wife is pregnant and she stays here with us. His first wife has gone back to her relatives because we don’t have food here).”
“He provided everything for us but we don’t know how we shall survive and we are many in this house. So my wife has gone out to see if she can find us some food. Some of his brothers are here and his wives live here and us, his parents are also here with the rest of the family, kaya mwamene chizankalila (we don’t know how we will survive),” he added.
Dimba further said Kanene’s fans were missing his son and wanted to see him back on the musical scene.
“Mwana bamukululukile chabe ndaba life yankala hard. Ndiye enzo tisapota ise family yonse elo banthu Zambia yonse bamulila Kanene. Mu Lusaka, ku Mazabuka, bonse bamufuna.(Let the authorities just forgive him. He was supporting the whole family and the whole country is crying to have him back. In Lusaka, in Mazabuka, everyone wants Kanene).”
Dimba said Kanene was hard-working and put family affairs first, which was why he provided for his family with the little he made from his musical shows.
“He was wrong, but please forgive him. The 18-year jail sentence slapped on him was too much for us the family to bear and we can’t do without him,” said Dimba.

Why have they not arrested Bronson Chikusu as well. He recently approached me claiming he was collecting a debt I owed to Dr. Chikusu. When I contacted Mrs Chikusu she knew she confirmed this criminal was not sent to collect any debt. He has been contacting various businessmen impersonating Dr.Chikusu’s one and only son and forging Dr Chikusu’s signature.He is not Dr Chikusu’s son. The late MP only had one son who is a doctor. That bastard Bronson did not even get to grade 7 in education. Be warned this is a convicted criminal. This bastard is not a Chikusu. His mother was a prostitute who slept with several different men. He was blackmailed to murder a the former MP with Darton Bwalya and Webbi Kapila.He is harassing the widow day and night and has threatened to kill her. This criminal does not represent any Chikusu. He has forged documents and sold land that does not belong to him. He is harassing the window day and night and has threatened to kill her.

Gentlemen and women, who should forgive Kanene, I wonder? His case was not between individuals but him and the Govt (Criminal offense). Moreover, even time for lenience is far gone. He and his sympathizers should have asked for it before judgement. Prerogative of mercy is just by chance i.e if he is lucky.

Imagine how many people can be released if all the relatives of the prisoners were to beg for their release. A wise person learns from other peoples’ mistakes, while a stupid one does so from his own. After 18 years he will be wise.

If he loved his family he would have not committed defilement. He will just have to finish his 18year jail term. Let someone marry the wives he left and at that age having two wives with the HIV on the Rise

The defilement law is an example of a bad law. Pistorious gets five years for killing someone in Zambia someone gets 18 years for having sex with a so called under age girl its a shame. This law must be repealed its an example of an emotional law.

The father to kanene feels his son deserve to be forgiven, which is not okay. He, kanene knew that he is a bread winner. why committ crime. he deserve the 18year for his criminality. we will be unfair to the parent and law if he is quickly forgiven as though others who have gone in for the same crime are more criminal than him. let us be fair. The sentence was even less if i was a judge, i would have added to make it 25years he is so stupid that he was making fun of the girls parent, while his so called father watched his shameless child continue insulting he come from avery unreasonable tribe, he is as well un cultured.Since he did not discipline him let him know what it means to fail to train your children well. in nyanja we say ‘nkuyu yodya mwana idapota make.’ these a the consequence of evil.
