Patrice Explains Why He Ditched Zambia ‘I Was Not Paid For 6 Months’
FORMER Chipolopolo coach Patrice Beaumelle has revealed that he ditched the team because he was owed six months’ salary arrears.
Beaumelle, who was initially Herve Renard’s assistant, took the reins when the latter resigned in October 2013.
Beaumelle, however, ditched the team last August, a month before the start of the AfCON qualifiers, to join Renard in Ivory Coast as assistant coach.
In an interview, Beaumelle, who is in the country for today’s Zambia-Ivory Coast friendly, said he really wanted to lead Zambia through the AfCON qualifiers but could not bear the hardship of not getting paid.
“Towards the end of my contract on 31st July, there were some problems to receive my salary and everything. I have not been paid all that is due to me for six months. When I saw that, it was difficult to continue. But you know how I love Zambia,” Beaumelle said.
“When I left, my heart was broken. But as a professional, I had a lot of proposals and I took the one I thought was the best for me at this moment in time, to be coach of the Ivory Coast with Herve.”
Beaumelle said he was happy to be part of Shepolopolo’s qualification to the African Women’s Championships in Namibia.
“I really wanted to be the head coach. I remained for one year. I worked extremely hard with the girls; we qualified for the Africa Cup. I really wanted to stay, FAZ wanted me to stay,” said Beaumelle.
And Beaumelle appealed to Zambians to be patient with Chipolopolo coach Honour Janza, saying it was not easy to qualify a team to the Africa Cup.

Typical Africans!!! A while ago i met Congolese officials in Athens who were not paid by their govt for 6 months..it was sad.

Beaumelle kanyo kakwe he behaved like a real beach he behaves like a spineless girlfriend on a date with her boyfriend but insists on taking her friend too and keeps on taking orders from a friend than her boyfriend on where to drink, eat, where to go after wards. If Renard had to be back Zambia shouldn’t allow him too

Guys, we need to be realistic. All these insults should be directed at to FAZ. Why would you work for six months without getting paid? Six months!!! Come on, its just too much. Its just unbelievable. We work for money and not mahara. You guys are using the internet because of money! FAZ has got a problem, a huge one. They need to sort out the money issues or else…. If its governments responsibility then they need to push Kambwili the bully to pay on time. Its not right for a person to go for six months without being paid. Its wack.
