I Maybe white on the outside but my blood is black, says acting President Dr Guy Scott. And Dr Scott says he will not tolerate any campaigns during the mourning period for president Sata.
Meanwhile, the acting President has pledged to protect president Michael Sata’s legacy. Speaking at Government Complex yesterday after ZNBC reporter Effie Mphande requested for an interview, Scott said he would not give interviews to the press, including international media, which he said kept referring to him as a “white president”.
“I am not giving interviews at the moment until maybe after Sunday. So I don’t want to talk to the media now because they keep referring to me as white president, especially the international media. I may be white on the outside but my blood is black,” acting President Scott said as local government minister Emmanuel Chenda, who was with him, agreed.
Chenda was later heard repeating acting President Scott’s remarks to information minister, Dr Joseph Katema saying: “He is white but his blood is black.” Addressing journalists later, acting President Scott said it would be unacceptable for anyone to engage in campaigns for the presidential by-election during the period of national mourning. “During the mourning period, it is unacceptable for people to engage in campaigns for the forthcoming presidential by-election, either for themselves or for others.
The law enforcement agencies will be vigilant and will not hesitate to step in where inappropriate and illegal activities take place,” acting President Scott said. He said as acting President, he would also act to ensure his party observes the period of national mourning without distraction or disturbance, including political infighting and campaigns. Acting President said there would be no Cabinet or party central committee meetings allowed until after the burial of president Sata. “Let us remind ourselves of our love for this nation, and for the peace and stability we showed during our jubilee.
It is essential that all of us remain fully disciplined and patriotic at this time. As acting President, my legacy will be a peaceful and fair election and the smooth transition of our newly elected president,” he said. And acting President Scott said the arrival of president Sata’s body was a national event and encouraged all citizens to attend without fear of harassment. He further invited opposition political parties to be present at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport to receive the body of president Sata. “My own party, the PF will embrace them as fellow mourners of the leader of our great nation. The police will ensure that peace prevails. Violence will not be tolerated,” he said.
Meanwhile, acting President Scott pledged to protect president Sata’s legacy. In the book of condolences at Government House, acting President Scott wrote: “How I lament the passing of my revered comrade, teacher and leader Michael Chilufya Sata in such an early stage of our reform programme for our country. Rest in peace! We shall protect your legacy brother.”

Fellow Zambians including all factions in PF and the opposition, please let us allow the Acting President His Excellence Doctor Guy Scott to finish the legacy of the late President. for your own information, HE Guy Scott was the first Zambian Citizen to join the PF followed by Mr.Given Lubinda 2 years later, then Winter Kabimba 3 years later. So by allowing Dr.Scott to carry on for 2 years, Zambians will be respecting the Spirit of the late President Sata. In 2016, the other PF Candidate can be chosen to stand. But as from now up to 2016, let Guy Scott continue. By doing so we will be showing the world that we are a non racial state. May God be with the First Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba Sata.

Our political system shall demonstrate its authenticity to democracy by allowing Mr. Guy Scott to complete the remaining 2 years PF presidential term.Considering the present situation 90 days is just too short to hold elections. But two years would provide a transitional platform to allow all political parties to organise and prepare for General elections. The present situation is so fragile that chaotic, instable and power struggles can arise. Already, there are such signs. We have to remember our democratic system is still young and still relying on leadership from the old generation.

people praising the man who is just a place holder, why is he denying the truth, he is white and all human beings have red blood. he shouldn’t seek symphathy to be allowed to become Zambias’ duly elected presidents cause he will call his colour mates and apatheid will come to Zambia. on this one seek some advice from the energetic former presidents KK. he may look good for now but think about the future. anyway he is not an indigenous Zambian citizen cause his parents where not born in Zambia.

Brother man, a Constitution is just a Document,The Draft Constitution is out, so what? It takes a man to make a Constitution, and it takes the same money to amend to suit the status quo. A constitution is meant for convenience.

@Salamanda…To be frank with you I would rather have Guy Scott continue as president until 2016 to avoid unnecessary elections, but comments like yours sometimes make some of us rethink. What makes you think Zambians who are free to express what they think about the current political scenario in Zambia are UPND? Bro this is a very unfair statement.

ANY SERIOUSLY MINDED ZAMBIAN CITIZEN WOULD WANT DR SCOTT TO CONTINUE, COME ON GUYS LET US BE SERIOUS, WHY SHOULD WE WAIST OUR MONEY AGAIN ( TAXI PAYER’S MONEY) JUST TO SEND ONE SELFISH INDIVIDUAL TO STATE HOUSE FOR 2 YEARS? GUY SCOTT IS MATURE ENOUGH TO CONTINUE WHERE MICHAEL LEFT, AND DEFINITELY SO EVEN AFTER 2016. LET US NOT BE SELFISH AND FOOLISH, IS OUR OBAMA NOT IN CHARGE OF THE WHOLE ‘SUPER POWER ‘ THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? REMEMBER, ZAMBIA IS A NON RACIAL STATE!

November 3, 2014 at 12:35 pm
He is born and bleed in Zambia, let him continue until 2016, then we can choose him or Mulenga Sata. Zambians, there is something that comes from God in a very unique way, many people may not see beyond the situation now, having Scott has president has more advantages than disadvantages. There are ways to gain world recognition in bad and good way. Zambia has an opportunity to be best known because we have Scott has our brand or trade mark for non racism.
