Ndola Man Arrested For Raping And Murdering His Own Mother
Police have arrested a 31-year-old man of Ndola’s Lubuto West township for allegedly raping and murdering his 65-year-old mother.
Copperbelt Province commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said yesterday that the incident happened around 21.00 hours at the deceased’s house on Sunday.
Ms Kasosa has identified the suspect as Jeremiah Munkondia of house number 7938 in Lubuto West while the deceased is Erica Munkondia.
She said it is suspected that Jeremiah used an iron bar to murder his mother after allegedly having sex with her.
“We have arrested a 31-year-old man of Lubuto West for allegedly raping and subsequently murdering his own mother. When police visited the scene, they found an iron bar which is believed to have been used in the killing,” Ms Kasosa said.
She said the matter was reported to the police by the deceased’s neighbours who heard her cry.
Ms Kasosa said the body of the deceased will be buried today after a post-mortem and the suspect is in police custody.
