Mutati Urges Supporters To Stop Campaigns

Lunte MMD member of parliament Felix Mutati has told his supporters to halt campaigns for his candidature in the forthcoming presidential by-election until president Michael Sata is buried.
Mutati was speaking to journalists on Wednesday shortly after he signed the book of condolences at Government House that has been opened in honour of president Sata.
“At the moment, I will continue to mourn my president and then thereafter, I shall make my position extremely clear to the people of Zambia as to what direction I will take to try and advance the fortunes, not only of Lunte but the people of Zambia,” he said. “My comment to the people that are supporting me and floating my name is that let us mourn and then after we put him (president Sata) to rest, I think we can deal with what lies ahead.” On Tuesday, Mwandi member of parliament Michael Kaingu said MMD leader Nevers Mumba would not be the party’s automatic candidate for the forthcoming presidential by-election.
And Mutati said he was grateful to president Sata for nominating him to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development as well as to the COMESA Committee of Elders. “He went out of his way at an international conference where he pronounced me as the candidate for Zambia for the position of secretary general for UNCTAD. I was humbled by that gesture.
I was also humbled by the fact that he supported me at a regional level at COMESA, till my appointment as COMESA elder,” said Mutati. “I shall forever remember him and the people of Lunte for some of the developments that are taking place.
More importantly, his legacy remains in souls and hearts of the people of Zambia for what he has done for Zambia.”

Presidential Candidate for Unit and Equal Development

Dear editor allow me to make a honest appeal to all political parties aspiring presidential candidates in the up coming presidential by election to embrace the message of national unit and equal development.
Fellow country men and women, the current political state of affairs in our country between the northern and southern regions of our beloved country call for immediate remedial by all aspiring presidential candidates, the church and all peace loving Zambians.
This presidential by election though resulting from a tragedy presents an opportunity to address some of the becoming national political and economic issues emerging from regional politics and appointment we have witnessed in the past few years.
Fellow country men and women, it is sad to note that 50 years after Zambia’s independence and 23 years after multi-party democracy we are increasingly witnessing a tribal and regional politics that is manifest in appointment in government and government parastal companies. This state of affairs though not openly and sincerely discussed in the long run to threaten our national unit and coexistence as a people of 72 tribes.
As much as some readers would call this article tribal the facts still stand that in the last three years of our country governance we have seen unprecedented number of appointment based on tribe, region and relationship with disregard of other regions.
For those who may disagree with this fact i would challenge you to carry out a research on the state of political and parastal institutions appointment, development funding by province and family ties in appointments.
The question i pose therefore to all the aspiring presidential candidates is; what kind of politics platform do you promise to lead the country? tribal; regional; or of a united Zambia.
On the other hand we are also increasingly witnessing political parties regional tribal alliances between the Northern,Luapula, Muchinga and East for (PF) and Southern, North-western, Western and Part of Central for UPND leaving Lusaka and Copperbelt for all ground for hope.
Fellow country men and women the current political trend if left unchecked can lead our country into division. Zambia is the only country we can call home and as such lets share the national cake equally in appointments and development.
