Edgar Lungu Denies Opening a Facebook Page
Secretary General of the Patriotic Front, Defence and Justice Minister, Edgar Lungu MP, has denied that he has opened a Facebook page for purposes of presidential campaigns.
In a statement released on his behalf, PF Media Director, Brian Hapunda has dismissed as propaganda the manufactured page.
“Hon Lungu has not opened any page. That is work of his known political enemies”
In a non-binding agreement to reinstate Lungu, an adhoc committee of Ministers, and MCC that met Acting President, Guy Scott committed that presidential candidates ought to resign from their current position.
It is known that certain MCC perceived from his adversaries camp, want Edgar Lungu to relinquish his powerful position as Secretary General to “even the playing field”
in their story, the Zambia Reports claims that Edgar Lungu has declared his candidature through his Facebook page.
The Zambia Report claims that: “A facebook page created for Patriotic Front Secretary General Edgar Lungu has hit the ground running campaigning for his election as party president ahead of the January 2015 presidential by-election.
Below is the purported message
Dear Friends,
Join the fight to ensure that Sata’s wisdom in choosing Edgar Lungu as his # 1 trustee is protected. He is the only person the late president entrusted with the Ministry of Defense, justice and the position of Secretary General – a show of trust never exhibited to anyone in the ruling party. Stand up with us to ensure the Peace, security and prosperity of our country is upheld and this will only be possible through one man, our incoming president – Edgar Lungu ”
Lungu has been a subject of numerous malicious reports and fake Facebook pages from his adversaries.
The harassment has intensified with Acting President Guy Scott executing a failed dismissal.
Last week, Lungu’s surviving aunt was detained for hours and questioned over Lungu’s parentage and heritage.

Stop lying bamakaka the Facebook page is there and people are busy propping up his candidature that page doesnt look malicious like its Edgar’s enemies. For all to see go to # Edgar Lungu for President on Facebook, enemies wouldnt be putting their happy faces there like a Timothy, Saraphina and 40 others.

you are right enemies wouldn’t be putting happy faces but again enemies wud want to discredit you that u have gone ahead of time campaigning. Easy let them find the IP address for the page and they will know whose computer it is

Of course they know who posted the page even the location or office but I still believe it’s Lungu’s footsoldiers

The PF Constitution has no provision for serving party officials to relinquish their positions prior to contesting any party post.However,it is a matter of common sense that during elections,a candidate already holding another position can temporally stand down their current post and should they win then they can resign their previous post.PF should not use back door methods to hound out some party officials.
