FORUM for Democratic Alternatives president Ludwig Sondashi has announced he will contest the presidency in the forthcoming by-election, saying he cannot leave the position to amateur and inexperienced politicians. Announcing his desire to stand in the coming presidential by-election, Dr Sondashi said he gets angry to hear of young people wanting to take over the presidency when they lack experience. “You do not hand over to the young; they need to be schooled. How can I sit and allow my children, grandchildren to be run [ruled] by clueless cadres. Who are we going to leave it to? … Maybe give me someone who understands politics and is selfless,” he said. Dr Sondashi said he could not allow “children” without any political background to lead the nation. “Now children without political background have begun to flex their muscles and say they want to be president just because their father was president… I cannot allow that,” Dr Sondashi said. He said if elected Republican president, he would offer his Sondashi Fomula (SF 2000) to government to improve it and later give it free of charge to Zambians living with HIV. Dr Sondashi said he had failed to improve the formula because governments had refused to back him. “No government wants to back me because they think it will make me rich… MMD in Rupiah Banda’s government said they would support me if I joined MMD. [They] even sent ministers to come and persuade me and make me the offer. I refused, how I can go back to MMD which I had left?” he said. Dr Sondashi added that he would also enact and better the constitution that the PF government had failed to deliver.

That is a problem we have in Zambia , people think if they become gray headed they are more wiser yet they have even forgotten the meaning of ‘children’ ,how do we expect them to interperent our constitution correctly.Dr, be reminded that a 35 year old person can stand as president. Show us names for those who are below that age so that we may Know that you not a dreamer.KK was 40 when he became first presido of Zed. In the bible God even put kings of as young as 7yrs.Just put your manifesto on open Table people to see what u ought to offer.

This famous with doctor seem to ave gone out of his mind. What we Zambians need is a young dynamic, non tribalist leader. Poeple like Mr.Sondashi must stop dreaming of becoming Presidents. All those who served under UNIP like himself are just too old and need to retire in to their villages.

Nothing wrong with the children and relatives of former leaders seeking political office. It’s their constitutional right.Even in UK I hear the children of Jack Straw, Neil Kinnock and Tony Blair will be contesting for MP positions.
