Grade 10 Muchinga Pupil Commits Suicide After Family Denies Him Consent to Marry Woman Older Than Him
A grade ten pupil of Ilondola Secondary School in Muchinga Province has committed suicide after family members allegedly denied him consent to marry a woman older than him.
Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner Bonney Kapeso confirmed the incident which happened on Wednesday and identified the deceased as Rodgers Chintu of Pensulo village in Chinsali District.
Mr Kapeso said Pensulo 18, was found hanging on a rope tied to a tree 500 meters from his father’s house.
He said the deceased was also found with a letter stating that he had taken his life because his father had denied him consent to marry a woman older than him.
