Kafue Pregnant Woman Commits Suicide After Testing Positive For HIV

A five months-pregnant woman of Nankanga in Kafue district has committed suicide after allegedly testing positive for HIV.
Her uncle, Mathews Musukwa, named the deceased as Marjorie Mwaluputa. Musukwa said the family was very disappointed with Mwaluputa’s decision to commit suicide because she was the only surviving child of his sister. “As a family, we are deeply shocked that Marjorie has taken her life in such a manner.
The family knew her as a decent and God-fearing girl whom we never thought would end her life in such a way.
We suspect she could have gone to antenatal for her pregnancy and that’s where she could have discovered that she was HIV-positive,” he said.
Musukwa appealed to parents and guardians to teach their children on the importance of abstaining from pre-marital sex as such were the results of sexual immorality.

We are in an era now where ARVs are there to sustain lives and live normal. Good education from Govt about ARVs would have saved those 2 lives.

We are not allowing any pregnant woman that comes for registration during her early first days of pregnancy detection to start the process alone,by process I mean that ;when one is tested positive for pregnancy,we tell them also to test for HIV,in every healthcenters we are telling the women to get their husbands so that they test and know their status and councelling together, antenatal or check up is on a second, third visits etc.If that lady was allowed to do every thing in the absence of her lover, then that clinic is to blame.Plis pipo take your lovers together with you, let’s help save each other’s health.Only God wil judge that self-killed lady……nangu lyakupulafye muleteni guy ku clinic,if he refuses take someone you know can strengthen you.I fil so bad mwe!!!!!!!!!

I have been HIV+ for a long time you only need two things: 1 just take shitty medicines at 20:00hrs everyday. 2 go to the hospital every two months.

I strongly feel that there’s lack of sensitization from the government health wings on ARV’s and too much unprofessionaliam to the counselors.Nokumwa ukushitisha am ARV’S secretly, especially in the government health centers.RIP sister and the yet to be born.
