Lusaka Cop In Court For Murder

A 40-year-old police officer has appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for murder. In this matter, Joseph Kayange of Lusaka’s Chawama compound is charged with murder and attempted murder contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
On the first count, allegations are that Kayange murdered Oliver Mukupa on July 9 last year. On the second count, allegations are that he attempted to murder Moses Mutwale on February 9 this year. Court records indicated that Kayange shot at Mutwale, who has since been discharged from UTH.
Kayange will be appearing before magistrate Wendy Chibesakunda until instructions are received from the Director of Public Prosecutions to commit the matter to the High Court.
