Dear Editor,
Please publish this for me, I subscribed to Zamtel network early January this year because of the “real mahala promotion”which is quite cheaper especially calling zamtel numbers. The problem is with customer care, they have a very poor customer care system. Since I started using Zamtel I have never been attended to by customer care. Whenever I have a problem and I call, it always rings for as long as 60 minutes and at the end the call just gets disconnected.
I have come to conclude that their customer care is poor. Is there anyone who is on Zamtel and was at one time attended to by customer care?

Lap Green was better. At least it brought us ADSL when ZAMTEL thought no one could use Landlines anymore because of cell phones.

I drove all the way from Kapiri to Lusaka and my wife was calling Zamtel Customer Care, she was not answered. We present our case and it was sorted out. The problem is that Zamtel employed PF uneducated IDIOTS in the past 3 years of Sata’s PATHETIC rule. The customer care attendants are busy with campaigns now

I gave up using Zamtel some time back. I couldn’t call other Zamtel numbers. Since Lapgreen left it’s got worse. As for customer care, you will receive bad treatment from other parastatal companies, so get used to it.

I strongly believe that ZAMTEL should have been privatized. The problem we have with ZAMTEL right now is that there is so much government interference. This interference starts from recruitment of staff to general operations of the company. ZAMTEL is full of PF cadres who were appointed when the PF government nationalized it. I believe the main reason Sata nationalized the company was to create employment for PF cadres. To make matters worse, ZAMTEL is finding it hard to compete with Airtel and MTN. The market share for ZAMTEL is currently about 18 per cent. This means that Airtel and MTN have literally taken over the market with a combined market share of 82 per cent. The projections are that ZAMTEL will not be able to penetrate the market mainly due to lack of capitalization, lack of innovation and political interference. The communication industry is highly dynamic in terms of technology. If these issues are not addressed, ZAMTEL will one day collapse and leave a lot of casualties in the economy.

100% right. Before ZAMTEL was privatised to Lap Green it had long become bankrupt. Had it not been for RB selling it to Lap Green, there would be no ZAMTEL today.
It seems we are again heading back to bankruptcy and mediocrity.

Its tricky to go through customer care. But if you send a text to 111 they respond promptly to your query.
I do understand they are pathetic but this one works

I was trying to call yesterday for almost 2 hours..no answer..Had to call some i know directly..Please ZICTA we cant be subjected to such useless services its absurd!!!
Maybe we start up a blog for bad service providers its like we cant be protected…its not free for crying out loud

I have been told that they are in the process of expanding the customer care 111. They do work but its the capcity problem. I was assured that they will soon upgrade the system. sending text to 111 work effecietly. They still remain the best of the 3.

I still believe zamtel is alive/gasping because of lap green/gadaffi money and once those pf cadres ‘eat’ this money then zamtel will impact negatively in our economy due to uncleared nkhongole and we shall return to that state/ worse than it was at the time of privatisation by the mmd govt.

There is only one employee at the customer care section. When she goes to the bathroom (my goodness, she takes long!) or she is speaking to her boyfriend (on 111), nobody will attend to your query.

BE ASURED THAT YOUR QUERIES WILL NEVER BE ANSWERED. The best you can do is see your local Zamtel Office otherwise forget about the Zamtel Call Centre.

ZAMTEL ACTUALLY HAS ONE OF THE BEST CUSTOMER CARE UNLIKE THE TWO OTHER NETWORKS. THEY ANSWER IN LESS THAN A MINUTE I JUST WONDER WHICH NUMBER YOU CALL. I WOULD ADVISE YOU TRY CALLING THEM ON 1000 AND YOU WILL NEVER REGRET THEIR EFFECIENCY

Zamtel has really caused loss of business and time especially at nakonde border,with zra asycuda world, the system shuts down frequently,this is stupid to say the least,better zra go airtel or mtn for fast network.
