Zambia Needs To Be Open About The Use Of Condoms

Africa needs to be open about the use of condoms if the prevalence of HIV has to reduce, a Zambian medical doctor has said.
Kanyanta Sunkuntu, who was speaking during a workshop organised by the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) for female writers in Africa, said the continent needs to move away from not publicly discussing uncomfortable topics if the fight against HIV has to be won.
“Culture has changed. HIV has changed our culture. If we do not discuss sex and the use of condoms, people will continue dying,” he said.
Dr Sunkuntu said during a presentation on condom use that countries like Thailand have vigorously championed the use of condoms and this has seen a drastic drop in new HIV infections.
He described as unfortunate that some men who are usually the decision makers want to find reasons for not using condoms, adding that the low levels of condom use result in the spread of HIV.
With the female condom, he acknowledged that it was not readily available, which posed as a challenge to women who wanted to protect themselves.
“The scarcity of female condoms is because they are not as old on the market as the male condoms. This makes it easier for men to access condoms as opposed to the women,” he said.
Dr Sunkuntu also noted the importance of involving end users when branding some condoms like the case is in Lesotho.
He called on governments to invest in procuring condoms to win the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Zambia should ban labia elongation or labia pulling, is the act of elongating the labia minora through manual manipulation (pulling)
It is shameful for Zambian women living abroad!!

Some women who have larger labia seek to reduce their size through labiaplasty, due to discomfort or pain.

Elongated labia are perceived to facilitate orgasm and female ejaculation, and are considered to enhance sexual pleasure for both partners.
    But women with long ones are h o r n y 24/7
One D I C K is not enough to satsify most Zambia ladies

In Zambian culture, female family members teach girls at puberty how to pull their labia to lengthen them (Ukukuna), using local medicinal flora to ease the process. Women continue the practice into adulthood and through marriage.
The most important aspect of this act sometimes referred to as kukuna imishino, meaning pulling the labia, is to assist the couple to perform the sexual practice of ukutombana.
When these women find themselves in America or the western world they look for doctors to cut them off!!

Traditionally, young girls start elongating their labia before they reach menarche. Their paternal aunts, grandmothers or their female peers instruct them. The most commonly cited motivations reported by those who practice it are that it is a requisite for marriage, a socializing rite of passage that determines entrance into womanhood, and a physical feature that enhances sexual pleasure!

THIS PRACTICE MADE ME A NYMPHOMANIAC!!!!!!

Zambian women elongate their labia minora in order to persuade their partners to be faithful.

Which is total bullcrap. Men still go out and search for longer, shorter, smaller or whatever!!! As long as their d i c k s still function. I suggest women do the same.

Because women live in a community where rumors say if you elongate men will not run away so there is pressure to do it. Just a belief, a myth, a belief which is that if you enlarge your labia, the men tend to like you more… and yet men will be men. Most of them fûck outside the marriage all the time anyway.

The article clearly mentions culture. That HIV has changed culture. So writing about a Zambian cultural practice that needs to change shows we understood the article quite well. If women pull their labia to ‘keep men faithful’ it could be a reason for lack of condom use (why use one if your man is not going to stray) by addressing this cultural practice a shift in behaviour could arise (better use a condom in case this fool of a hubby/boy toy is straying). You read the comments with a myopic eye. I put it to you that you are the one who flopped English Comprehension and critical thinking.

Nonofo wee, just look back to the above postings and tell me who among them has even mentioned use of condoms and prevention of HIV? Or at least relate lack of use of condoms to culture. The above discussion is a topic of its own without due reference to AIDS. Iam not against imishinos kongwes and the like its funny how they shifted to female mutilation.
