RB Has No New Ideas To Offer Zambians -Bweupe

Apostolic Church in Zambia secretary general bishop George Bweupe says Rupiah Banda has no new ideas to offer Zambians who tested his ideas before and rejected them.
And Kaniki Bible University vice-chancellor Dr Kaluba Kapapula says the Church is concerned with the political situation in the country. In an interview, bishop Bweupe said Banda should choose between erasing the profile that he had and getting another that he would never live to enjoy. He said the Church did not believe in laws of overthrowing a democratically elected president of a political party.
“As a Church, we would like to appeal to him (Banda) that he should step down from his endeavour, there are no new ideas he is going to offer.
He was given an opportunity to demonstrate. Secondly, he is not teaching the young generation what they should do when they are in power tomorrow. He is setting a very bad example. He should allow the younger generation to exercise their democratic right and demonstrate their ideas. We have tested his ideas and Zambians rejected them.
They did not just reject MMD, they rejected the person. But we want to see the new ideas coming from the younger generation,” he said.Bishop Bweupe said the political developments in the country had not inspired the Church. He advised politicians to practice politics that enhances peace and unity. “I may not individually identify parties that are fuelling conflict, but it is a well-known fact that there is a serious crisis both in the ruling party PF and opposition parties.
We have never seen an emergent scramble for presidency like what we have seen in the latest development. We would like to appeal to them (PF) to be calm and focus on peaceful selection of their leader,” said bishop Bweupe. And Dr Kapapula said at Kaniki Bible University in Ndola on Thursday that Zambia needs young leaders. “What is happening on the political scene is sad. It is very sad that former president Rupiah Banda is trying to get back.
We need young leaders to lead the nation… What we want are young and vibrant leaders who are going to lead this nation. I personally don’t support Rupiah Banda coming back to active politics,” said Dr Kapapula.
The MMD has suspended Nevers Mumba and announced the adoption of Banda as the party’s candidate for the January 2015 presidential election.
