Fuel Prices Reduced

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has effected a minimal reduction in fuel pump prices with effect from midnight 28th November.
Crude oil prices on the international market have been on the decline since the second quarter of 2014.
According to the announced reduction in pump prices, a litre of petrol will now cost K10.38 from K10.63 representing a reduction of 25 ngwee, a litre of diesel will now cost K9.73 from K10.01 representing a reduction of 28 ngwee, while a litre of kerosene will now cost K7.21 from K7.48 representing a reduction 27 ngwee.Fuel pump
The statement further states that wholesale prices of petroleum products have been reduced by 3.66%.
The EBR attributes the reduction in fuel prices to the obtaining trend on the international market were crude oil prices have been on a decline since the second quarter of 2014.
It however says the exchange rate of the Kwacha against the US Dollar depreciated since the last price adjustment in April 2014 by 6.8% from K5.9 per US Dollar to K6.3 per US Dollar by mid-November 2014.
The ERB further states that the Kwacha depreciation alone would have triggered an upward adjustment in pump prices.
It however says this has been partially moderated by the fall in international oil prices during the same period.

this is good. it was expected because prices of petroleum have been falling at an alarming rate. good responce indeed by the ERB.

Good response indeed, but coming late. Hoping its not in any way linked to the upcoming presidential elections.

This is worse than nothing. Crude oil has reduced by a very big margin. Why reduce at 2%. When crude oil goes up by 10% they increase prices in excess of 15%. It reduces by more than 20% they reduce at 2%. It is an insult to our intelligence!

From time immemorial Zambia has always been expensive. This includes labour which makes it every expensive destination for investment. The new Mine owners were surprised that miners had a non contributory pension of 3months per each served. Where they come from you pay towards your pension.

We were better off under RB when the US dollar was K4.5. PF and their new currency notes, policies, and economic uncertainty has ruined us. How does fuel jump from K6 to K10 in three years?

    • Trixy

      November 27, 2014 at 11:32 am

@JJ Kalonda…Problem Zambia is full of illiterates and semi-literates. But the bigger problem is that even “intellectuals do sell their tribal souls for a packet of jiggies” like you said on the other site!!! (Will never forget this statement). We are in serious trouble I am telling you. Lungu is a clear drunkard and a thief. LAZ had actually deregistered him for stealing clients’ money, but people are ready to ignore all that because of tribal grounds or other things only known to themselves. Then when he goes through and they starting stealing national coffers, again the same people will start complaining. Why go in the mouth of a lion when you can see it?

25 ngwee can’t even buy a sweet or one needle (nyeleti). Then ERB goes boasting, at fuel price has reduced. We can’t see any reduction.
