Two teenage boys of Luanshya’s Buntungwa Overspill township have been buried alive after the walls of a quarry where they were reportedly looking for minerals collapsed on them.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said yesterday that the incident involving the two 17-year-old boys occurred around 10:30 hours on Tuesday at a disused mine within Buntungwa.
Ms Kasosa identified the deceased as Peter Chanda and Royd Michelo, who were Grade Nine pupils at Mama Rosa Basic School.
She said Elvis Mulungushi, who survived the accident, was only partially buried and sustained fractured legs and had chest pains and is receiving treatment at Thompson General Hospital.
