UPND Lacks National Character -Kaingu

Michael Kaingu says the Bantu Botatwe have regrouped in UPND to share political positions and that the party lacks national character.
Kaingu, who is MMD Mwandi member of parliament, said in an interview that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema might not rule Zambia because of his inclination to tribalism and regionalism.  He said Hichilema had failed to convince voters that he had support outside the Bantu Botatwe regions. “What has happened to UPND is the enlargement of the Bantu Botatwe who in essence are one people. It’s about people from his province (Southern), Western, Lambaland and North Western Province. Look at the people who have joined his campaign! They are Bantu Botatwe and their traditional cousins; it’s the Bantu Botatwe regrouping in the regional party,” he said.
Kaingu said it would be difficult for UPND to form government because other people felt sidelined. He said MMD would denounce Hichilema’s tribalism during the presidential election campaigns. “Hakainde’s problem is failure to win votes from provinces like Northern, Luapula and Muchinga. He has not embraced anyone prominent from these regions.
His party lacks national character,” he said. Kaingu said in an event that UPND won the election, it would find governing difficult because the top leadership was from one region. He said it would be hard for the party leadership to distribute wealth as they would want to impress their people as priority.
Kaingu said MMD was the only party that had a national representation. “You will find that the top 100 people [in UPND] are from one region and if they share jobs what happens to other Zambians? This is where the problem is and this has been Hakainde’s problem; he lacks national character,” said Kaingu. Maureen Mwanawasa, Vernon Mwaanga and Dipak Patel have joined Hichilema’s national campaign.
Others are former prime minister Malimba Masheke, former secretary to the Cabinet, Sketchly Sacika and former MMD national treasurer Suresh Desai.

      HH has a Regional inclination and the element to unity this country is not there in him and it is an inborn thing. You are seeing a face of pretense.
      The bandwagon of the likes of Maurine Mwanawasa and V. Mwaanga are just opportunists and from the slumber. Firstly, Maurine aletasha Lesa and something that needs to appreciate for the respect and Honour Michael Sata had given to the Mwanawasa Family that she did not expect. Sata did not worry about the embarrassment and arrogance he received from Maurine, and thought she would be the first lady forever, what a shame.
      Secondly is VJ, please just sit down. He has not significantly contributed any thing tangible to write about in the achievements of this country during his political career other than being a playboy and abuse of government resources. Ask any responsible Zambian today a simple Q. What can be learnt from VJ.? A. Nothing apart from Votes rigging.

    PF Government is the worst in as far as nepotism and tribalism is concerned. It is Kasolo here, Mulenga there and Chisanga the other side. We talked and complained about this issue to no avail. Just look at the initial list of the people who wanted to stand for presidency – 95% were from one family. Dr Kaseba, the son, Myles Sampa, etc. Mind you these people were and still have positions in the PF Government. Let us not even go to the foreign mission. Tribalism is going to kill the unit of this country you people please. Let us stop it and just start looking at who really merits what. HH merits to be president of this country. In terms of age, education and several other factors.

At their botched CRC, I submitted to her that let professional positions like Perm Sec, Directors and other such be qualified to & ratified by parliament committees. The witch refused & the following day on screen saying “No if we put a Perm Sec who supports the opposition, they’d frustrate govt programs. Now that she is off govt, bwlefulamina HH ati pononono. Yes, even Lungu may appoint his fellow rodent munchers. It is the constitution that needs amending.

    To my understanding Mr Kaingu is trying to bring out certain issues which may cost HH’s chances of governing this nation.

    Certain English terms have no equivalents in Bemba, eg stealing and tribalism. To my mbuyas (tribal cousins), stealing is called natolafye (have just picked); so a Bemba can never be a thief (because they just pick). Similarly, there’s nothing wrong with a govt of 100% Bembas or a Bembalised foreign mission. It’s only called tribalism when others practice it, to Bembas it’s called Ubwananyina (helping your own). Bembas are true politicians, you see – and total hypocrites for that!!!

    Hakainde doesn’t make sense, what he does is to try hard to fight for a political space. His speech is full of illusions. For example where will he get the money from to have grade one up to university level free education. That will mean the whole national budget should go to one sector which is education, what about these numerous sectors?

    All I read online about H H is tribal talk; but never have I heard H H utter a tribal sentence, give the man a chance to campaign and let the people s votes speak, after all is it not the duty of the opposition to keep counter balance to the ruling party? Look what P F has brought us nothing but violence, yes the late president did some work for the country MHSRIP but people should know that Sata was PF and PF was SATA; NEVAS MUMBA is also someone who has come to destroy the MMD, so for some of us the only party that is peaceful right now is UPND, other parties are too small to mention.
