Sampa May Have Been More Ready For The Task Of Being President Than Lungu -UPND
The UPND has challenged Edgar Lungu to a debate with its leader, Hakainde Hichilema, ahead of the January 20, 2015 presidential election.
And UPND says Miles Sampa may have been more ready for the task of being president than Edgar Lungu. Meanwhile, the opposition party says all is not well in the PF. Mazabuka UPND member of parliament Garry Nkombo said yesterday that Hichilema was ready for a debate with Lungu where the two presidential candidates can explain their respective vision for Zambia.
He said politics was no longer an issue of mob psychology, tricks and intimidation but about knowledge and transparency. Nkombo said the issue of a national debate for the presidential candidates is a matter of emergency. “As UPND, we cannot waste time but to agree with The Post editorial of yesterday (Sunday) about national debates. These debates must happen now so that we can determine who is best placed in terms of individuals who are vying for the presidency. These candidates, especially those that appear to be front runners like Hakainde Hichilema and Edgar Lungu, must be given a platform to talk about their intentions to unite this country and reduce poverty. This will give chance to those sitting on the fence to make up their minds,” he said. Nkombo said he was shattered by the manner in which Lungu presented himself during the radio programme on Friday and at a rally in Kitwe. “The picture that Edgar Lungu has presented so far actually gives you an impression that Miles may have been [more] ready for this task.
I was shattered with the manner he (Lungu) presented himself, he should have done better,” he said. Nkombo said no matter how much the PF pretend, the party would never be the same after Michael Sata. “The happenings in the PF remain a private matter but the recent events have shown a great exposure of how disjointed the party is.
If all was well in the PF, Guy Scott, GBM and Miles Sampa should have been at their campaign launch in Kitwe,” he said. Nkombo, however, praised acting President Scott, saying he had acted above board. He said acting President Scott had lived up to expectations. “Guy Scott did a decent job of following the PF constitution.
He has stood tall and I salute him for that. He has acted above expectations and has not played any monkey business,” said Nkombo.

Both @ben and @pillar You are just failing to Google which country(ies) had parliamentary and president debate, especially @pillar who seem to be shallower that Ben its in Botswana, I was in Botswana during the elections. @ben debate never went to parliament it was a joint project by USA Govt (sponsors), UNDP and local Radio Station thru local TV eBotswana. The debate had two rounds(days) for presidential which parlimentary was on all their 54 constituencies by candidate for an hr from 18:00 – 19:00. Argue when you have facts you are embarrassing yourselves.

Scot has caused all the confusion in Pf.It is likely Upnd belongs to the Cartel as well because any well meaning Zambian cant support what Scot,Sampa, Gbm and Cartel are doing. People hate the Cartel and any one who associates with the infamous Cartel. Talking and implementation are two different isues. Mwanawasa was not a public Speaker but a very good implementer.Chiluba a very good sweet talker but something else.

HH is misleading himself or being mislead. These UPND chaps are the same maggots that used to insult Sata daily and now they are busy stealing his ideas in form of promises and lies. What they are forgetting is that Sata was in politics for a very very long time and held various Government portfolios.
In all his lies and promises, he is not telling the people when (time) those things he is dreaming about will be realized. How can believe such nonsense? People are not dull at least Edgar is telling the truth that he will CONTINUE with the PF programs which fortunately for him are impacting positively on people.

When you are holding a rally in a town and another party holds theirs at another time in the same town, is that not debate? when you make headline about an issue and your friends also do, is that not debate? In the US, in as much as all candidates can hold rallies in their respective domains, they are still subject to live debates where voters are given a chance to ask questions. On a rally, it’s like in church on Sunday you can’t ask questions only Sata did at one time, but you are able to ask at a cell group. It’s a modern way of doing things. Infact, debates in western countries are more effective than rallies which is the old school. Why, with technology the world has become a global village. You are likely to follow the proceedings of a debate live on you smart phone than sixteen rallies going on at the same time on a weekend.

As for rest of you who are busy yapping about UPND being tribal and that nonsense. You must know that in the history of this country, there has never been a party that has been tribal like PF. Infact not only tribalism was practiced but also a lot of nepotism. For your own information I am not a tonga, but my vote is too expensive. No way can I give it to a bone head! I gave my vote to Sata coz I saw how he used to work when he was in Government. Whichever ministry he used to be in, one could see results. When it comes to Edgar Lungu, all I know is that the man was a lawyer, he stole clients money and was dropped by LAZ. I also found out and can even see for myself that he is drunkard. What is worse is that even himself confessed and said he has no vision for this country. For crying out loud, the man could not even express himself on the radio interview. After all this, one expects us to just keep quiet and vote Edgar into power? ARE YOU MAAAAAD?

Ability to communicate ideas and vision are critical leadership credentials for any person who seeks political office. Not only does Lungu lack ideas and vision, the guy has no ability to communicate. And yet in Zambia the guy is Presidential material. Shame!!!!
