POLICE in Nchelenge have arrested a 21-year-old man for having carnal knowledge of a chicken.
Luapula Province Commissioner of Police Malcolm Mulenga named the suspect in the bestiality case as Patrick Lwanga of Kasumpa village, in Chief Kanyembo’s area.
Mr Mulenga said the incident allegedly happened around 21:00 hours on Thursday in the suspect’s room.
“The complainant Charles Mulenga heard noise coming from the kitchen where he keeps his chickens. Since the accused was accommodated in the room adjacent to the kitchen, the complainant peeped through the door and saw him in action,” he said.
Mr Mulenga said the complainant called his wife to witness the incident and then went and knocked on Lwanga’s door. Lwanga did not open the door and so the complainant entered the house through a back window and found the chicken dead with blood oozing from its cloaca.
The suspect was allegedly found naked.
Mr Mulenga said the accused is in police custody awaiting appearance in court.
And a 27-year-old man of Fisenga village in Mbala district has gone into hiding after allegedly murdering his three-year-old daughter.
Northern Province Commissioner of Police Charity Katanga said the alleged murder occurred around 08:00 hours on Thursday at Fisenga village.
Ms Katanga said the incident occurred whilst the mother of the deceased was away from home, and identified the girl as Selida Nakasola, while the suspect is Alex Sichalwe, 27.
She said the girl sustained a deep cut on her stomach as a wire was believed to have been used by the assailant to inflict injuries on her.
The girl’s body is in Mbala General Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
