Livingstone, Choma PF Move To Join Wynter Kabimba’s Newly Formed Rainbow Party
LIVINGSTONE PF district, constituency and ward officials have ditched the ruling party to join Wynter Kabimba’s newly formed Rainbow Party.
And the Patriotic Front in Southern Province has suffered a major setback after several party officials in Choma also resigned on Wednesday to join the Rainbow Party.
Meanwhile, Southern Province PF women chairperson Ann Tischer Nyirenda says the party will lose more members because presidential candidate Edgar Lungu is sidelining elected officials.
Announcing the resignation of the PF constituency and ward committees, Livingstone district chairman Fred Chibuye said the PF was going into oblivion. “It is with a heavy heart that I wish to announce the following district, constituency, and ward officials in Livingstone who have with immediate effect resigned from the PF: district vice-chairperson Robert Wandila, treasurer Herbert Kabuku, information and publicity secretary Grace Belemu and her deputy Nelly Zulu.
Others are women chairperson Jinny Sunkutu, her deputy Mildred Kimbala and district women secretary Norah Chishala,” he said. “The other district members that have decided to resign from the PF are Masiliso Kabuku, the vice treasurer women, Betty Bwalya, the vice information and publicity secretary in the women’s department.” Chibuye said at the constituency level, the vice chairperson, Freddie Kwibisa, and his secretary Rabby Nyoni had also resigned.
“Others that have resigned at constituency level are Anna Malindi, the vice secretary, the information secretary and her deputy Charity Mate and Prudence Ilunga. The women’s secretary Penelope Nachinga has also resigned, so has her vice Brenda Mwanza and the youth vice publicity secretary Mathews Sichinga,” he said.
Chibuye added that Evans Sakala and Albert Siwakwi, who are Maramba ward secretary and treasurer, respectively, had also resigned from the PF to join Kabimba’s Rainbow Party.
He said he, together with other officials, decided to resign from the PF to join the Rainbow Party due to the violence and indiscipline taking root in the ruling party. “There is a culture of violence being introduced in the PF and we saw it when Edgar Lungu last visited Livingstone at which Norah Chishala was savagely beaten in the presence of Edgar Lungu, who just chose to laugh as if it was a comedy show being staged for him,” said Chibuye. And Nyirenda said the PF secretariat had not bothered to communicate to her and other elected PF officials over the campaign programmes but had chosen to deal with other non-elected PF members, who had been drafted in parallel structures. “I wish to condemn the manner in which the party is currently being managed because the so-called reconciliation has not trickled down to us and we have seen that we are being sidelined from campaigning for Edgar Lungu. Not even the secretary general has contacted me or other committee members in the province, so I’m not surprised that the elected officials are deciding to resign,” said Nyirenda.
Meanwhile, in Choma, district officials led by district political secretary Gloria Mapani defected to the Rainbow Party. In an interview, Mapani said the group decided to join the Rainbow Party because of continued hatred in the PF. “It’s unfortunate that despite the reconciliation at the helm of the party, us in the grassroots are feeling the impact of divisions.
So for peace, we thought it’s important to join the new party, [where] maybe our services will be needed,” Mapani said. Others who defected are district information and publicist secretary Andrew Somile, district vice secretary Bizzy Kapepe, constituency chairlady Fanny Pelekamoyo, Josephine Kaluwe, and Kennedy Mukuma.
Former provincial youth treasurer Rex Manda and vice provincial women treasurer Bessie Kutz and vice provincial secretary Trywel Shibwela have also defected to the Rainbow Party, and so did Southern Province PF political secretary Siamolonga Siachoona last week.

The recent happings in of are a clear sign that something is wrong.The party is more divided than being united.From the convention we have witnessed a lot of harrasment not only in Choma and Livingstone but all places where other people did not support EL at the GC.One such place is Kasama,muchinga,Mbabala a few but to mention. Who will these who have been victimised in pf for not supporting EL at the GC vote for since some hv joined UPND and others Rainbow party?Such influencial people will not support of but will rather vote for HH.With such happening,We as pf peace loving will vote for HH just lyk Hon Mpande made it clear.HH for better Zambia.

To begging with we are not voting because of tribe but we are voting because we want a president who shall move Zambia forward from the current economic crisis. If such a one is Lozi we shall vote for him if Bemba we shall vote for him if Tonga we shall vote for him.Tribe is not a qualification for presidencial canditate.If u are looking at tribe then u ate inferiol.NoU did not chose the tribe u are. apology.
Secondary if district and provincial exctives are resigning, it not good news coz they organise the party from both District and Provincial levels.These have a huge following.The truth of the matter is PF has lost a lot of its members for the last 3yrs and the past three months hv been worse due to lunch of leadership and UPND has gained due to its policies.Its no easy walk as u think.Viva HH for better Zambia

Where you born yeesterday? Icisungu kwati ni tumfweko. The first qualification to be president of UPND is being Tribe. Only a member of one tribe can be president. Meaning that if HH went to state house today, and UPND was to rule Zambia for 27 years, then NO OTHER tribe will have chance to be in leadership because bakalacinjana fye in the family or tribe.
I challenge HH to write to me personally disowning that qualification which made him President of UPND. Thats when I will think of accepting UPND. He must also appologise to Saki & Chisanga!

Even if theres 0 votes in southern,it will have no impact at all to alter the outcome.PF got less than 3000 votes in southern.How can this affect the outcome you tribalists.We will surpport our traditional cousin EDGAR LUNGU.I only surpport the winning team.Why should I waste energy voting for HH/MUMBA when I am convinced that they stand no chance at all against EL.

@Pensulo, Ubupuba! Mazoka had 2 VPs (Saki and Chisanga) HH didn’t have any post but was a financial supporter. When elections for a successor to Mazoka were held, the Tongas (Using Sejani) rose up and categorically put it that ONLY A TONGA CAN BE PRESIDENT OF UPND. The vice presidents were chased for the crime of being Lozi & Bemba. Since then UPND has NEVER gone for a convention coz all the 4 VPs are not Tonga. Please, plz, PULEEEEEEEEEZ!!! Ba Zambia, vote for a party where any Zambian can aspire to be President. Vote Edgar Lungu.
