MMD Says Zambia Is Not Safe Under Edgar Lungu

Addressing journalists yesterday, MMD national chairperson and Kasempa member of parliament, Kabinga Pande, said violence under Lungu, the PF presidential candidate for the January 20, 2015 presidential election, had caused a lot of injustice to citizens.
Pande, flanked by Ikeleng’i, Lufwanyama and Rufunsa members of parliament Elijah Muchima, Annie Chungu and Kenneth Chipungu respectively said the PF was desperate to win the election at all costs.
Others were MMD chairperson for legal affairs Bradford Machila and national vice-chairperson Edgar Keembe. “The levels of violence in PF under Mr Lungu have increased. That’s why we want HH (Hakainde Hichilema).
We can’t afford to have in government a person who has not condemned violence from his supporters, and propagating violence to be in power. The country is not safe under Mr Lungu,” he said. Pande said the Lungu camp was using violence to intimidate others.
He said it would be impossible for Lungu to condemn violence if in power as he had not done so as a candidate. “We have not heard him (Lungu) condemn violence, so why should we trust that he will stop violence when he is in power? The only person we have heard condemn violence is (acting President) Dr Scott, and we commend him for that.” And Pande said the purported MMD national executive committee meeting held on Wednesday to support Lungu had no blessings of the party.
He said he was aware that those that attended the meeting were serving personal interests and not those of the MMD. “The conveners of that meeting have been promised things in their own capacity and among the things they have been promised is that if Mr Lungu wins, he will release the MMD vehicles which were handed over to the state.
We want a president who is promising good governance and [to] unite the people of Zambia. Currently, Zambia is divided into regions and we want to destroy, kill that regionalism,” Pande said.
Expelled MMD national secretary Muhabi Lungu on Wednesday failed to gather MMD NEC members to endorse Lungu.
Pande said politicians should desist from tribal sentiments in their quest to win votes.
He said tribalisim should not be tolerated in a democratic society like Zambia.

When the Presidential Elections will be held on 20th January 2015, and if 2,539,925 people voted, which is nearly equally to the number of people that voted in 2011, 1,366,737 (53.81%) would vote UPND country wide and 880,087 (32.1%) would vote PF and 208,275 would vote MMD and 3.3% would vote FDD with a negligible NAREP % therein, therefore the current opinion poll based on 50 sampled registered voters in each of the 10 [provinces by province weight of voter numbers and with a margin of error of +- 3% results are as follows: Lusaka HH-44%, EL-44%NM-9%, EN-3%, Luapula HH-33%, EL- 59%, NM-13%, EN- 5%, Northern HH-30%, EL-58%, NM-10%, EN-10%, Muchinga HH-29%, EL-52%, NM-12%, EN-4%, Central HH- 54%, EL-34%, NM- 11%, EN-1%,Eastern HH-61%, EL-35%, NM-3%,EN-1%, Southern HH-89%, EL-6%, NM4%, EN-1%, Western HH-76%, EL-16%, NM-4%, EN-2%, North Western HH-82%, EL-8%, NM-5%, EN-1%, Sondashi-4%. These are based on the Product probability sum of averages of voter ratios. This gives HH 53.81% of the national vote with EL on 34.17% in this more exhaustive approach, my margin of error is 3%, and that HH’s pessimistic result in this scenario will be 50.81% and EL’s optimistic result will be at 37.17%. Seeing that now this is a two horse race, by deduction, we deduce HH to be president elect come January 20th, 2015.
Kindly note that the voter numbers are 304,000 for Northwestern, 314,000 aprox for western, 644,000 for Eastern, 625,000 for Southern, 827,000for the Copperbelt and 748,000 for Lusaka and we are dealing with roughly 50% turn out (Was actually 52% turn out in 2011). Other sets of moving averages have been used to determine the expected number of voters with discounted voters on the basis of rains, deaths, lost voters cards and other factors of motivation and apathy. The sets of 50 Sampled individuals have been sampled more than once between November 1 and December 25 2014.

My friend, HH cannot win in Eastern Province. Just forget. Look HH will win in North Western, Western and Southern Province. Central Province will be tight but Edgar Lungu will score Lusaka, Copperbelt, Northern, Luapula, Eastern Provinces. This prediction is only subject to turn out. Percentages mean nothing.HH expects a tribal vote in Southern? We will give him a tribal snub in Northern aswell!

MMD is talking as Zambians concerned with violence, guys sometime lets put aside our cadre attire and condemn things, yes let Lungu or HH win (I care less) but if we see fellow Zambians hacking each other with pangas thats a development we collectively need to castigate, and where does it start from? From us.

I have been saying this over and over again, why is it that Edgar Lungu has NEVER uttered a single word against violence we have seen in his party? as a leader he needed to set a good example and set standard that his cadres should emulate and abide by. He is not a bad person pe se but he lacks control of things, his cabinet minister gang too he will never control them as they will always say we pushed you into that seat… so leave us alone to enjoy the fruits.

Clearly, you have not followed very well – and this makes it difficult for you to be impartial. Edgar was the first and only senior PF member – and as acting President, when Mr. Sata was still alive, to condemn violence by anybody, and called on the Police to execute their duties professionally. Nobody else in PF ever said this. Today Dr. Scott wants to be hero because Mr. Sata is gone, my foot!!!

Buddy, Edgar is calm (too calm) but he seem to be in autopilot and letting anybody and anything control him. Thjats a trait that makes some of us very uncomfortable for a leader. Remember how easily he gave Scott the presidency only to start fighting for the same seat he relinquished just a week earlier, those are signs one need to pick. Who pulls his strings?

Granted, change will, indeed, come. However, the change will not happen in January,2015,but at some election in the distant future, after PF will have exhausted it’s God-given mandate. Further, that change will usher in a party and leadership totally different from Upnd or/and any other Tonga-type constellation(s).
