Nawakwi Asks Edgar To Stop Using Sata’s Image In Campaigns
Edith Nawakwi says it is unacceptable for Edgar Lungu and his friends in the PF to continue using Michael Sata’s regalia when they cannot even live up to his ideals.
Speaking at a campaign rally at Mufulira’s Chawama Grounds in Kankoyo, Nawakwi, the FDD president and the party’s candidate in the coming presidential election, said Zambians must reject selfish politicians that have no time for the poor.
She said the FDD would work hard to ensure that liars are not given chance to govern. “This country is in need of honest leadership, this country needs a government full of people of integrity and not individuals that cannot even embrace the interests of the poor of our people,” Nawakwi said. “Look, they have continued using late president Sata’s regalia, when we all know our president is no more. We don’t want to continue crying by seeing Mr Sata’s portraits because we are still heartbroken. If they don’t have money to buy campaign materials, let them come and see me; we can organise some chitenge materials for them.” She said Sata embraced everyone but those that had taken over the PF had extremely disappointed the citizenry.
Nawakwi further said the kind of intolerance and violent conduct being exhibited by PF cadres was extremely appalling. She said violence, if tolerated, could defeat the purpose of democracy, hence the need for the electorate to condemn and distance themselves from politicians or political parties perpetuating violence. Nawakwi further castigated politicians promising to keep the women on the streets to do their business.
“How can a politician tell the women that I will maintain them on the streets when their wives don’t even know what street life feels like? Politics of lies should come to an end in 2014. We cannot continue to have politicians making promises that are not feasible. Zambia is not ready for more lies, taking advantage of the vulnerability of many women.
Those women on the streets need empowerment, they need somebody to remove them from that life of suffering on the streets, their businesses must grow so that they could become meaningful entrepreneurs,” she said.
Nawakwi said she was proud to be among the 11 presidential candidates in the January 20, 2015 election and that she was grateful to all Zambians that had pledged to support and vote for her.

Simple. Use someone’s legacy for a good use mostly to promote that person’s belief, moral and standing in society. NONE of that is Lungu using it for. Pure selfish to gunner more sympathy votes.

Nawakwi has a point. It is just that she has forgotten (rather we are quick to forget)that Bonnie Tembo asked the court to stop MMD using RB’s regalia (since RB was no longer in power) during campaigns in Chipata. Bonnie started it, u can also petition their using Sata’s regalia.

i can’t understand these Stoopid arguments. Sata is the founder of PF. Lungu and PF have a right to his image. if the PF uses Nkumbula or Kapwepwe we can chide them. ..why can’t the ANC do away with Mandela? when politicians have nothing to offer every petty thing is turned into an issue
