Those calling for my resignation should be careful because PF would have been non-existent without my contribution, says Geoffrey Mwamba.
Commenting on calls by some PF members that he should resign, Mwamba said his decision not to support Edgar Lungu had thrown the ruling party into disarray and that it has now felt his political weight. “They thought I was a nonentity in the political arena and now they have felt my weight and that is why they are saying I should resign,” he said.
“Without some of us, PF would have not been there and if I can remind them when president [Michael] Sata was being harassed by the MMD regime through the Drug Enforcement Agency, who was there? Who came out and supported Sata throughout?” Mwamba said newcomers had hijacked the party and now wanted to start acting like its masters.
He said he would not resign to please those calling for his resignation. “Today, they seem to be masters; the kingmakers, the owners of PF. Unfortunately, tell them I will not resign,” Mwamba stressed. He said most of the people who were throwing their weight around had never been close to Sata. “But if you look at those who are calling for my resignation from the party, those hired guns of theirs, those who are related or party officials, look at their calibre! Those are people who were not even close to president Sata; he never gave them anything or any position and these are the people who are trying to call for my resignation!” said Mwamba.
On Monday, Mwamba announced his support for the UPND in next month’s presidential election, saying the PF boat had cracked and was sinking. But PF secretary general Davies Chama challenged Mwamba to resign so that his parliamentary seat could be declared vacant.
Chama also said Mwamba was a suspended party official whose action was not expected to affect the party’s popularity in the area ahead of the January 20, 2015 election.

Bauze aisha gbm. Boggers with small brains are fond of contradicting themselves.
You are happy on the other hand for RB endorsing EL and angry at GBM for supporting hh. First ask rb to and other mmd members to resign and join pf.
Hypocrity cowards stop codemning ba GBM. It is true he resursitated the pf party. His money sustained pf. Unthankful people are always very unfortunate.
If Lungu loses most of his followers can run away to join the rainbow party. Gbm is 100% correct. He has a bright future. He will contest the 2016 as a president under pf.

Ba GBM – it is not about what you did for PF or you are or were. It is about principle. It can’t always be my way or no way for you. You are at liberty to endorse or align with anybody but it is very unprincipled when you make such decisions to start sulking. Do not eat with both hands.

without some of us the PF shud hav died. True. even Zambia has founders. how many of those went on to enjoy its fruits. Thats why as a founder member you must be ready to step aside wen your steam to contribute any further runs out lest you become irrelevant to the system. The mistake I have seen is that its not justifiable for for a founder member to support an opposition candidate no matter the differences. thats indiscipline.

PF exists because the pipo who voted for PF believed in the late president msg and want it to exist even beyond 2015 elections as a way of honouring his life..Money can’t be compared to the hope u give to the pipo..leaders must send hope to the pipo and not boast of their riches..our late president wasn’t rich but he formed PF and managed to convince rich pipo like GBM to support him..send the correct msg to the masses bwana!!!!
