The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a police officer in Ndola for allegedly giving false information in the case involving former Copperbelt commissioner of police Mary Tembo.
Frederick Kabungo, 48, a deputy district criminal investigations officer of Kansenshi Police Camp, has been charged with one count of knowingly misleading officers of the commission by giving a false statement.
This is according to a statement released in Lusaka yesterday by ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono.
On dates unknown but between July 1 last year and March 31, last year in Kitwe and in Lusaka, Kabungo allegedly misled an ACC officer.
This is when he gave them false statements regarding his involvement and knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the change of ownership of a Toyota Corolla registration number AAX 5716 from Grizzly Mining Limited into the names of Ms Tembo.
Ms Tembo was arrested and charged with two counts of abuse of authority of office contrary to the ACC Act.
Kabungo appeared in court on December 23 last year for plea and is scheduled to appear again on January 16, for commencement of trial.
