Chambeshi:Kalaba Deserves To Be Chipolopolo Captain

Beston Chambeshi says new Chipolopolo captain Rainford Kalaba has all it takes to propel the team to success at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
On Saturday, Chipolopolo trainer Honour Janza named the midfielder as the new team captain. Kalaba, who takes over from defender Stopilla Sunzu, will be deputised by midfielder Nathan Sinkala at the AfCON. In an interview, Chambeshi, who is Nkana coach and former Zambia national team striker, said Kalaba deserved the armband, saying that he had been instrumental to the team’s success.
“He is a senior player of the team now. The coach has shown confidence in him and so far so good, he has been playing very well. He stood a chance of picking up captainship. We just have to give him support so that he can handle the responsibility properly,” he said. Chambeshi advised senior players to accept Janza’s decision to give Kalaba captaincy. “I know for sure that some of them may feel the other way round, but they have to accept that he is the new captain and [they should] work as a team.
They don’t have to argue about that, but give the young man support and see how he executes his duties,” he said. And Chambeshi advised the Football Association of Zambia to organise another international friendly match with North African teams. “Apart from South Africa, let’s play one of the teams in North Africa because that will give us real competition.
We need also to gauge the performance of the players who have just joined the team. We have to work hard because we are not in an easy group. We have to take each game with a serious approach,” said Chamnbeshi.

Good move. Kalaba is a very good player if not the best Zambian player at the moment. Yes he has had issues of ‘indiscipline’ in the past but giving him this responsibility will most likely assist him to mature more and play more for Zambia. Lets\’s go Kalaba. I personally have faith in you. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!
