ZNBC PULLS DOWN MMD ADVERT HIGHLIGHTING PF FAILURES
The Director General
Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation
Mass Media complex
Lusaka
8th January 2015
Dear Sirs,
Re: Your Decision to Pull Down the MMD TV Campaign advert
I refer to the above matter.
I note that we as MMD had delivered to your institution a campaign advert for your broadcasting. A contract was signed between ourselves and ZNBC and the requisite fees was paid by us effectively furnishing consideration to consummate a binding contract between us and yourselves. The said advert, highlighting some of the failures of one of the competitors in the forthcoming 20th January 2015 Presidential elections, the Patriotic Front and explaining what our candidate will do once elected was even aired on Monday 5th January 2015.
It has now come to our attention that at the instruction of a named PF MP and Minister in the current Government, you have decided to stop airing our paid for Political advert. Efforts by us to get you to air the said political advert have proved futile. This action is a clear breach of contract on your part and the damages and consequences to us will be severe and irreparable, especially given that we are going to the polls in less than a fortnight. Your illegal and unwarranted pulling down of our political advert will also adversely affect our capacity to campaign effectively.
Further, this decision also offends the electoral code of conduct which mandates your organisation to give equal and/or fair coverage to all the competitors in the election. We shall therefore by copy of this letter be lodging a complaint to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) regarding this illegal, unfair and biased conduct on your part.
Your decision is particularly unfair to and biased against the MMD given that you have allowed all the competitors in the forthcoming election to freely air their adverts on both radio and Television without hampering or censoring them.
We hereby demand that you immediately resume airing our paid for advert, aforesaid failure to which we will in the next 24 hours commence legal proceedings against you for breach of contract.
We shall also proceed to report the officers involved to the relevant investigative authorities for abuse of their offices.
Yours faithfully,
Mwansa Mbulakulima

NAKONDE ELECTION POLLING STAFFS PUT THE ACCOUNTANT TO TASK OVER K200 BEING PAID AS SITTING ALLOWANCE.
About 308 election staffs Nakonde this afternoon took the ECZ Accountant to task over the K200 which each of the staffs is being paid per day which they claim was not uniform across the country. The named polling agent asked the accountant to clarify whether the ECZ’s rates were varying from districts to districts as other polling assistants in other districts such as Mporokoso were receiving K250 as sitting allowance plus snacks while those from other Nakonde District were being paid K200 plus snacks.
The seemingly confused accountant tried to explain to the polling staffs but failed to convince them over the variation in the rates.

But what annoyed the 308 Election Poling Staffs was the statement made by one of the named local ECZ official. The official told the Polling Staffs that those that were not happy with K200 paid by ECZ should come out in open and quit the exercise so that a quick replacement in found.
This really annoyed the staffs especially teachers who demanded an apology from the officer as his statement amounted to intimidation, but the officer in questions refused to apologize saying his mind was up to date and maintained his earlier sentiment.
Nakonde District Council is notoriously corrupt and is known for nepotism and tribalism when it comes to issues to do with money. Currently nearly 90% of council workers at Nakonde Distict have been recruited as Polling Staffs and 50% of those other non district council workers picked are either children, friends, relatives, girlfriends or tribes mate to Nakonde Senoir Staff Workers. 60% of Nakonde District Council Workers are Tumbukas and one cannot be surprised to find majority of the recruited ECZ Poling Staffs coming from Muyombe, east of Muchinga Province.

Bwana 20.01.15, your calculations tally with mine, more or less. I used three different methods in a way arrived at the same result. In national figures it came to this: PF – 1,100; HH-750; MMD-400. HH and MMD have in a way switched positions.

PF slides significantly in western, abit in NW, LSK and CB but makes up significantly with MMD vote in Northern and eastern. And PF lost vote will be picked by HH. PF maintains its last vote in southern (24,000), but HH gobbles about 70% of MMD southern vote. Central province will be a no contest as PF and HH share the spoils, it’s a no contest province.

    So as I see it.
